Netflix star David Birtwhistle has revealed his injuries after he was involved in a horrific moped collision.

The Too Hot To Handle star, 34, has admitted he is lucky the damage wasn’t more serious after he became ‘lazy’ due to having ridden for so long.

Taking to social media to share photos of the incident, David recalled how he skidded along the road and crashed into a van.

‘A couple of days ago I was in a moped crash in London’, he began.

‘Although with all the adrenaline of the moment, I didn’t know there was anything wrong [until] later that day my knee started to swell up and get painful’.

David continued: ‘No one else was hurt and fortunately for me, I have no other injuries apart from a few scratches.

‘After getting concerned I had torn a ligament, I went to the physio yesterday for an assessment.’

He detailed: ‘After coming round a corner and a van being in the middle of the road, I skidded and hit the front bumper and wheel.

‘It all happened so fast, but luckily neither of us were going too quick and the damage to the van was minor.’

David said the physio has advised him to ‘not run’ and ‘work to get the swelling down over the next week’ before returning for another assessment.

‘Fortunately, he doesn’t think there is any major tissue damage and that probably the swelling is just from the impact.

‘I’ve been riding for over 10 years and maybe I got a bit lazy, but things could have been a lot worse.’

The photos David uploaded highlighted the impact of the crash, with his moped in pieces on the side of the road and a van with an indentation in its bumper.

Following the medical advice he’s been given, David has been resting up, sharing a clip of himself at home with his leg elevated.

‘Not an ideal situation when preparing for a marathon…’, he wrote, adding: ‘At least I’ve got a snack.’

His knee was bandaged up and appeared to have a cold compress on top as the reality star sat on the sofa, watching videos on his laptop before flashing a thumbs up to the camera.

David regularly documents his health and fitness journey to his 776,000 followers, including his marathon training.

The influencer ran the London Marathon in April before training again for a 100km Ultra Marathon in the summer.

He’s due to end 2024 with an Iron Man event, before taking on another major challenge next year, completing 55 half Iron Mans in 55 days, in 55 cities in England.

Speaking previously about his marathons, David previously told The Sun: ‘You can’t really fully prepare for it, that’s the truth.

‘I won’t be ready for it, even when the day comes, because it’s such a unique challenge.

‘I’ll be speaking to the best coaches I can get on the phone and I’ve got a good support team to look at nutrition because that’s one of the most important things with these bug events.

‘Just like a car, if you don’t put enough petrol it, you’re not going to get very far.’

The fitness fanatic rose to fame on the first-ever series of Too Hot To Handle in 2020, a dating show where a group of hot singletons have to refrain from physical touch in order to win a cash prize.
