Supacell was a smash hit for Netflix this year with the brand new London-based show making it to the top 10 TV series list in 91 countries across the globe

The show was a global top 10 for six weeks and hit a perfect 100% Rotten Tomatoes score, racking up 25,000,000 watches in four weeks.

With such immense success, it’s perhaps no surprise that the streaming platform has renewed the series and confirmed today that there will be a second season.

Showrunner, Creator and Lead Director Rapman announced: ‘I can’t wait for the world to see Supacell, Season 2.

‘For me, season 1 was always an origin story. Season 2 is when the journey really begins. Season 1 was my Batman Begins, Season 2 is my Dark Knight.

Rapman continued to tease the second season as he told Tudum: ‘I’ve always had it [mapped out] to Season 3. I know how Season 2 ends.

‘I’ve got stuff planned for this story. I’ve had this in my head for years, so I’m ready to go.’

Fans were delighted to hear that the show would be returning and many commented on Instagram with their delight.

‘The whole of South London is buzzing,’ said mrisaacbaah.

‘The best news ive heard all day,’ said chantel_gomo. Another commenter, 5starzzz_tayyy, added: ‘Yesssssss I’m so excitedddddd.’

Although fans could barely contain their excitement, many had one request: ‘@realrapman PLEASE can we have more than 6 episodes in season 2 and PLEASE don’t make us wait too long!! Thank you in advance! ❤️’

‘We need 20 episodes, not 6.😂😂😂😂’ added The_life_ideserve.

Ahead of the announcement, some of the cast members told Metro.co.uk that they expected the series to get picked up for a second season.

Actor Tosin Cole, who plays Michael Lasaki in the series and previously had roles in Hollyoaks and Doctor Who said: ‘The finale was epic, but I wasn’t involved in much of the action. I wish I could do more, and so I’m looking forward to a second season. I’m thinking “What can I do?”‘

When asked if a second season was confirmed he replied: ‘We’re talking it into existence. We’ve done all the set-up so we can just dive straight in.’

‘The way it leaves off, there’s definitely more to these stories,’ co-star Calvin Demba who plays Rodney teased.

The release date for the second season has yet to be announced so it is still unclear at the moment when exactly fans will be able to sink their teeth into the next instalment in the series.
