For years, Coca-Cola only came in a few different flavours, lemon and vanilla, but more recently there have been a few more ‘out there’ options.

The brand recently launched Coca-Cola Spiced, which was its first new flavour in years, and they also previously had Intergalactic Coca-Cola Zero Sugar, which many thought tasted like marshmallows, but was meant to taste like space.

And now they’ve announced another sweet new drink is going to be hitting supermarket shelves in September, however, the flavour is baffling fans.

Coca-Cola OREO Zero Sugar is the next limited-edition twist, which is said to be ‘fizzy cookie flavoured’. The company claims the taste is an ‘unparalleled experience’.

The drink will be available in 250ml cans from Pizza Express, Popeyes, and Slim Chickens restaurants in early September, and in supermarkets nationwide later in the month.

A photo of the new fizzy beverage was shared on the Food Finds UK Official group on Facebook, where Coke fans all seemed to be saying the same thing — they weren’t sure what to make of the product.

‘Not sure about this to be honest,’ said Connor Challis, as Chrysta Endersby wrote: ‘Sounds kinda gross…’

Many people simply replied with ‘WTF’, as Lilly-Kate Makinson posted: ‘I don’t know what to think about this.’

Some were excited to try it, saying they’d be ‘going on the hunt’ for it next month, but a few claimed the idea of it made them feel ‘sick’.

‘I feel physically sick thinking about this,’ admitted Wal LM, but Cory Walker thought it ‘could actually taste interesting’.

Speaking about the new drink, Oana Vlad, the global vice president of brand strategy at The Coca-Cola Company said: ‘Bringing together the playfulness of OREO and the Real Magic of Coca-Cola is unexpected, but also feels right because our brands are alike in so many ways.

‘As a first-of-its-kind collaboration for both brands, we are thrilled for besties around the world to join us in celebrating new products, great experiences and unexpected moments of connection.’

Eugenia Zalis, Global Head of Marketing and Brand for OREO, Mondelez International added: ‘At OREO, we strive to identify fresh ways to excite consumers and, with this collaboration, we have truly upped the ante. The bestie bond forged between OREO and Coca-Cola is a playful way to unite our fanbases and celebrate the power of connection and togetherness. We cannot wait to see the reaction to the campaign and hope fans are excited to experience the latest twists on two classics.’

As part of the campaign Coca-Cola and OREO are also partnering with Spotify to launch a first-of-its-kind musical experience designed for besties to merge their music tastes together.

By scanning the QR code on packs, fans can follow the steps to explore ‘Bestie Mode’ and sync up music preferences. Spotify Free users will also be invited to access the bestie experience via the platform. Once connected to a Spotify account, fans will be prompted with questions to see how their taste in music stacks up against their pal’s. A playlist will be generated with combined music preferences for besties to enjoy together.

This comes after ‘Fluffy Coke’ recently went viral online, thanks to a grandmother and granddaughter on TikTok who shared the quirky recipe.

For those that are curious, the bizarre beverage is made using Marshmallow Fluff, a soda of your choosing (in this case Coca-Cola) and ice.

You start by spreading Marshmallow Fluff around the inside of a glass. Once it’s completely covered you add ice and soda to the cup. Give it a stir, scraping some of the marshmallow from the sides as you go, and then drink up!

More than 287,000 people liked the video posted by @not.eg, with 1,744 commenting on it to share their thoughts. Some were quick to recommend trying it with other types of fizzy drink such as Dr Pepper, root beer, Orange Fanta or Diet Coke, while some said they add Marshmallow Fluff to their iced coffee.
