The second season of an acclaimed drama series has left fans ‘on the edge of their seats’ when tuning in.

Based on a Belgian mini-series, the first season of Australian show The Twelve was released in 2022.

It followed the story of Kate Lawson, who went on trial for the alleged murder of her niece and how the twelve jurors bring their personal lives and prejudices to the courtroom.

It starred Sam Neill as criminal barrister Brett Colby, a role which he has reprised.

The second season focuses on Bernice Price (Kris McQuade) who was found dead on her family’s property.

On trial her daughter Sasha and farmhand Patrick, the tight-knit community must put aside past encounters to find out if they are guilty of her murder.

The eight-episode season was released in Australia last month and will be available to watch in the UK on ITVX today.

But while UK fans will be forced to wait with bated breath for a few hours, many have said they are ‘already hooked’ after Aussie viewers shared their praise for the programme a few hours after watching.

‘For someone that’s already been assigned to do Jury service. The Twelve is one goose bumping, serial, on the edge TV series,’ KobiiBanks posted on X.

‘Overall, it is a great, intriguing & complex drama,’ wrote Jed.

‘So good and gets more intriguing each episode!’ Diana added.

After Sam shared a photo from the show’s premiere on social media last month, many UK fans were also begging to find out when they would be able to watch.

‘I am just catching up on the first series in UK and loving it so great that there is a second series coming!’ Carole wrote.

‘Loved this. Hope we get to see it in UK,’ Janice shared.

‘Can’t wait for it to come to the UK,’ Yvonne also said.

Speaking ahead of season 2’s launch in the UK, Sam said he believed this was an ‘even stronger story than last time’.

‘With many twists and turns and surprises. It will keep you guessing until the end,’ he said.

‘It is very relatable. Sometimes very dark, sometimes funny. But always compelling. Great characters, terrific performances. And you simply can’t stop watching.’

The Twelve is streaming on ITVX.
