Chelsea’s hopes of signing Victor Osimhen could be under threat following news Paris Saint-Germain are back in the market for a striker.

PSG held extensive talks over a move for Osimhen earlier in this summer with the French capital thought to be his preferred destination.

The two parties were even thought to have agreed personal terms but Luis Enrique’s side ultimately decided against a move, unwilling to meet Napoli’s valuation of €100million.

PSG also decided they were satisfied with their options of Randal Kolo Muani and Goncalo Ramos but those plans were thrown into disarray in their opening match of the new Ligue 1 campaign on Friday night.

PSG eased to a 4-1 win over Le Harve but there was major concern for Ramos when he was forced off after just 20 minutes – later seen leaving the stadium on crutches wearing a protective boot on his left foot.

Le Parisien report the Portugal international could now be sidelined for three months with ankle ligament damage which will require surgery, leaving his side with just one fit centre forward in Muani.

RMC Sport claim that development has prompted the PSG management team to revisit the possibility of signing another striker before the transfer window closes.

It remains to be seen whether PSG turn to Osimhen again but their striker search could pose a problem for Chelsea with the French champions known to be the Nigerian’s preferred destination.

Chelsea remain locked in talks with Napoli over a deal that would also see Romelu Lukaku join the Serie A giants.

Napoli boss Antonio Conte expressed his frustration over the complicated nature of the deal on Saturday having wanted matters settled before the start of the new season.

‘I will not talk about the players who are not part of the Napoli squad,’ Conte said. ‘You all know full well the Osimhen situation was already there when I arrived and will be dealt with exclusively by the club. I did not get into the situation.

‘You all know that the transfer market is very complicated and currently blocked. I cannot say any more than that.’

Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca meanwhile would not discuss the club’s efforts to sign Osimhen, or comment on reports suggesting a move for Joao Felix is close.

‘The only I can say is they are not our players so it’s not correct to talk about a Napoli player or Atletico Madrid player,’ Maresca said on Friday.

‘The club knows exactly what I think in terms of what we need and hopefully before we finish the transfer window, we can bring in some players.’
