The UK weather has plenty of sunshine in store over the weekend.

If your plans include a picnic this weekend, you’re in for a treat as the latest Met Office forecast predicts sunny weather in London and across the UK.

However, temperatures have dropped significantly since the hottest day of the year on Monday when temperatures reached over 34C in the south of England.

But the current breeze is here to stay a little longer – meaning temperatures will feel slightly cooler. This is good news for Londoners who have been waking up bleary eyed for days after tropical nights as nighttime temperatures get finally below 20C.

There have been rumours of another heatwave, while the Met Office is more conservative with its estimate.

James Madden from Exacta Weather said there are signals predicting another ‘major heat surge’ from August 20 as another high pressure wave builds.

North West England will see some cloud in the morning, with patchy showers in Northern Ireland and Scotland, but it rainfall is set to be light.

The South East of England will be dry throughout the day and also with patchy cloud.

However, because of the wind – which could be strong in the Scottish Highlands – temperatures will feel more bearable than during the heatwave.

The Met Office’s meteorologist Alex Deakin said temperatures will be ‘around average’ for this time of the year.

This means highs of around 23C in London, south east and the Midlands.

Further north, temperatures will hover in high teens at about 18C.
