Semasa Perang Iraq yang bermula pada bulan Mac 2003, kakitangan Tentera Amerika Syarikat dan Badan agensi perisikan pusat melakukan serangkaian pelanggaran hak asasi manusia terhadap tahanan di penjara Abu Ghraib di Iraq.[1] Pelanggaran ini termasuk penderaan fizikal dan seksual, penyeksaan, rogol, sodomi, dan pembunuhan.[2][3][4][5] Pelanggaran itu menjadi tumpuan publik dengan penerbitan gambar penyalahgunaan oleh CBS News pada bulan April 2004. Insiden ini menerima kutukan yang meluas baik di dalam Amerika Syarikat dan di luar negeri, walaupun tentara mendapat dukungan dari beberapa media konservatif dalam Amerika Syarikat.[6][7]
