About Leo Dan
Argentine singer-songwriter Leo Dan, who has released more than 70 albums since his 1963 debut, is one of Latin America’s all-time most popular performers. ∙ His first song, 1963’s “Celia,” established him at the forefront of the nueva ola movement, a precursor to rock en español. ∙ Leo Dan, his 1975 landmark album (also known as Ranchero), marked the first time that a nueva ola balladeer recorded with a mariachi band, launching his career in Mexico. ∙ The Latin Recording Academy honored Dan by presenting him with their Lifetime Achievement Award in 2012. ∙ “Te He Prometido,” his hit love song from 1969, got a second life with its appearance in Alfonso Cuarón’s 2018 film Roma, propelling it to the Top 10 on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart. ∙ The first volume of Celebrando a una Leyenda, a 2018 reworking of his greatest hits, topped the Mexican album charts and was certified double Platinum.
