Los días 16 y 17 de julio se llevará a cabo el curso en línea "Cloud Audit 101" que impartirán expertos de Amazon Web Services (AWS).   El curso contará con la participación de 44 representantes de instituciones de supervisión y regulación de 22 países de la región: Argentina, Bahamas, Belice, British Virgin Islands, Brasil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, España, Guatemala, Guyana, Honduras, Jamaica, México, Nicaragua, St. Kitts, Paraguay, República Dominicana, Suriname, Uruguay y Venezuela. El curso está diseñado para proporcionar los conocimientos fundamentales de supervisión de la nube y cómo esta es diferente de la supervisión tradicional in situ. Esta formación se sumerge en consideraciones de auditoría y prácticas recomendadas alineadas con dominios comunes de seguridad y cumplimiento. También ofrece una lisa de comprobación de auditoría para que los alumnos se preparen para auditar la seguridad en la nube.

Del 2 al 4 de julio se llevará a cabo el curso presencial "Respuesta de Supervisión Temprana: Escalamiento de Medidas Correctivas" que impartirá el experto en regulación y supervisión financiera Martín Auqui en Asunción, Paraguay.   El curso contará con la participación de 30 representantes de instituciones de supervisión y regulación de 8 países de la región: Costa Rica, Cuba, El Salvador, Honduras, Panamá, República Dominicana, Uruguay y Paraguay.   El curso abordará los siguientes objetivos: Reconocer la importancia y beneficios de una respuesta supervisora eficaz para mantener la estabilidad de las instituciones financieras. Identificar los atributos esenciales de un buen diagnóstico supervisor. Analizar los principios rectores para un adecuado escalamiento de medidas correctivas. Desarrollar un marco integral de respuesta supervisora y una guía para el escalamiento de medidas correctivas.

Today begins the on-site course on Credit Risk Analysis in Guatemala City, facilitated by experts from the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System. We are thrilled to have 32 representatives from supervision and regulation institutions across 10 countries in the region participating, including Belize, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Honduras, Jamaica, Panama, Paraguay, and Guatemala.   The course is designed for participants with one to three years of experience in the supervision and regulation of financial institutions. It offers an introductory learning experience aimed at providing a foundational set of analytical and examination skills applicable to the asset quality review function. Participants will: (1) have bank examination experience, (2) be introduced to loan analysis, and (3) have participated or will participate in the review of loans during examinations or inspections of financial institutions.

CALL FOR SELECTION OF SECRETARY GENERAL OF ASBA   In the Association of Supervisors of Banks of the Americas A.C. (ASBA), we are dedicated to the search and selection of a "Secretary General" profile to carry out the position in the headquarters of the General Secretariat ASBA in Mexico City. For this reason, we invite the Members of the Association to extend this call to those people that they consider as potential candidates to fulfill the profile of the mentioned position. The Secretary General is the chief executive responsible for the management of the Association of Supervisors of Banks of the Americas, depending on the Board of Directors. Will be responsible for exercising strategic leadership, providing vision and direction to advance ASBA's mission and objectives. He/she will oversee and lead the day-to-day management of the Secretariat and its team, including, but not limited to, contributing to the development and implementation of the Association's goals, objectives and strategic business plans, leading policy development and implementation, research, technical assistance and the delivery of Member activities. The Secretary General represents ASBA in international forums, defends the interests of banking supervisors in the Americas, and fosters cooperation and collaboration among Members, regulatory authorities, and stakeholders. He/she also ensures transparency, inclusiveness and accountability throughout the organization, reporting through periodic reports to the ASBA Chairman, Vice-Chairman and Board of Directors, among other responsibilities inherent to the role. It is a contract for a period of up to 3 years, with the possibility of extension for an equal period, subject to performance evaluation. It is required to be based in Mexico City and availability for international travel. (ASBA) nos encontramos abocados a la búsqueda y selección de un perfil de titular para desempeñar el cargo en la sede de la Secretaría General de ASBA en Ciudad de México. Today begins the on-site course on Consolidated Supervision and Risk Integration in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, facilitated by experts from the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System. We are thrilled that 40 representatives from supervision and regulation institutions from 12 countries in the region, including Belize, British Virgin Islands, Costa Rica, Curacao, Honduras, Panama, Paraguay, Spain, St. Kitts, Suriname, Turcos & Caicos and the Dominican Republic, are participating.   The course is designed for participants who are familiar with risk-focused supervision and have five or more years of supervision and regulation experience. The course provides supervisors with (1) practical bank examination techniques to evaluate enterprise-risk management and (2) exposure to analyzing the financial strength of a consolidated organization.   The course includes lectures, discussion sessions, and small group case study work to provide participants with an overview of consolidated supervision analysis. Lectures will address the review of enterprise-risk management of important risk categories. The course is intended to build on these experiences and skills to integrate various risk exposure into a consolidated assessment of a large banking organization.

The New Frontiers of Supervision describes the banking supervision model evolution of the Banco Central do Brasil (BCB) and its transformation into a macro and micro prudential supervision model with intensive use of microdata and technology solutions. The authors have carried out long research that involved not only the reading of several reports and publications, but almost 70 interviews. BCB governors, supervisory deputy-governors, representatives of the financial market, and colleagues who occupied different positions in all departments of supervision throughout this period have kindly shared their memories and experiences with them. The testimonies of the interviewees along the whole text allow the reader to share the joys, anxieties, uncertainties and hopes experienced by them in each challenge faced and goal achieved.    The book is available at Amazon.com in English (The New Frontiers of Supervision) and in Portuguese (As Novas Fronteiras da Supervisão).

The online course on Financial Markets and Instruments, taught by experts from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) begins today. We are thrilled that 30 representatives from supervision and regulation institutions from 15 countries in the region, including Argentina, Aruba, Brasil, Canadá, Costa Rica, El Salvador, España, Haití, Honduras, México, Panamá, Paraguay, Republica Dominicana, Suriname and Trinidad & Tobago, are participating.   This course, presented by the Institute for Capacity Development, is designed to give participants a foundation in financial instruments. The course covers forwards, futures, swaps, and options and then combines these building-block instruments with practical applications.   The course also devotes time for policy implications, notably related to regulation of financial markets. Also highlighted is misuse of financial instruments, which can lead to large losses and financial instability.
