At Stanford, I was a founding member of PeerTeach, a peer-to-peer in-class tutoring platform (Stanford Digital Learning Design Challenge winner and backed by StartX/Reach). While at the GSB I worked at Duolingo where I scaled and designed Duolingo's Family Plan for the monetization team.
Prior to my MBA, I was the first product manager @ Lumos, an a16z-backed startup, where I led the discovery for the next-generation identity OS to unite every company's apps and identities in one place. Previously, I worked on product, strategy, and global expansion at RapidSOS, introducing the first real-time, public safety data platform in the U.S. and LatAm to improve 9-1-1 response times and outcomes.

How can you stay motivated after being passed over for a Product Management promotion?
Moving up in product management is incredibly difficult, not because the next step is so much harder, but because it requires so much more trust to be in charge of the tougher product strategy decisions that will define the trajectory and investments a company makes. Unlike in university or in very junior roles, execution is not enough to move up anymore, and it's important to understand what skills or behaviors are missing to gain that trust from your team to make the key product decisions. Don't be afraid to ask for this feedback, but guide the conversation in a way where it it doesn't have to feel confrontational. Instead of asking "why didn't I get X", ask "what do you recommend I need to work on this year to get X a year from now".

What are the best ways to measure a Product Manager's ability to conduct user interviews?
It's super important to ask questions that put you in the shoes of the user or the client. Beyond asking punctual questions with a specific answer, look for ways to hear about what they think, see, hear, and do when they go through certain tasks or tackle certain problems. Ask questions like "tell me about the last time that you did..." instead of asking "would you do XX"
