Paul's journey in education has taken him from his beginnings as a primary classroom teacher specialising in music in the UK to leadership roles in Libya, Slovakia, Japan, Malaysia, and China. Most recently, he served as the Executive International Head of Benenden School Guangzhou. On June 22nd and 26th, we completed two impactful parenting workshops titled "Journey to Connection: Enhancing Family Harmony through Empathetic Listening." The workshops focused on practical strategies and insights to improve communication between parents and children, fostering empathy and understanding within the family. These sessions aim to help parents strengthen their relationship with their children through effective communication. Special thanks to Diane Wilcox ,Hetal Bhatt and our very own Zee Jamil for sharing their insights on this important topic. #ParentingWorkshops #EmpatheticListening #EffectiveCommunication #APSCommunity

At #ISPSchools, we help families become stronger through empathetic listening. 🏠👪 Recently, Saiful Nadzmi, International Learning Opportunities (#ILOS) Programs Coordinator and English & Drama Teacher; and Zee Jamil, Head of English & Performing Arts Department – both at Asia Pacific Schools – organised this fun and interesting workshop for parents. The workshop included: 📚 Books to help children with their emotional intelligence. 🖼 Visual stimulation cards that bring out emotions by linking images to real-world problems. With activities like this one, we strengthen our relationships with families and empower them to make these lessons part of their homes. Thank you to everyone who helped put on this enriching activity! 👏 #AmazingLearning #WhereConfidenceGrows

We are thrilled to share the highlights of the ISP Little Picasso event! This platform allowed 97 talented student artists from APSS and APIS to showcase their artwork and foster entrepreneurship. SMK Bandar Utama Damansara 3 also submitted 7 art pieces to the exhibition. Titled "ISP Little Picasso – Identity & Community," the exhibition embraced the theme: “Individually we are unique and beautiful, Together, we are a masterpiece.” Each piece, meticulously crafted by the students, showcased their unique identities and, when assembled, formed a vibrant community here at Asia Pacific Schools. ISP Little Picasso is an extension of the ISP Artists programme, launched last year under the International Learning Opportunities for Students (ILOS) International Schools Partnership Limited initiative, empowering students to learn art techniques from professional artists and experiment with various mediums. We extend our heartfelt thanks to artists Haafiz Shahimi and Muhammad Azizi Bin Abdul Latif for sharing their work and journey with our students. A special thank you to Haafiz for his generous donation of art pieces. We are immensely proud of our students' creativity and entrepreneurial spirit and look forward to continue supporting and celebrating their artistic endeavours. #ILOS #APS

This week is a literacy focus week in our international school Asia Pacific Schools International Schools Partnership Limited. As I walked around Year 1 and Year 2 corridors this morning, on World Book Day, there was a lovely atmosphere generated by over 20 parent volunteers reading with the children. Thank you to our wonderful parents for helping make this happen. Thank also to Lilian Doyle and Adam Jones and their teams.

The ISP Malaysia Transformative Learning Fair was a hub of connection and partnership. Our Marketing and Admissions Teams engaged with international families and agents, spotlighting our commitment to equip students with lifelong skills during the event at Asia Pacific Schools on 19 January 2024. They learned more about why our schools are Schools of Choice, including the unique programmes we offer such as the International Learning Opportunities for Students (ILOS) and Future Pathways programmes. They also had the chance to tour our schools and remotely consult with our teams at Tenby Schools Penang, Tenby Schools Ipoh, Tenby International School Setia EcoHill and Straits International School Rawang. We believe that building strong connections with our communities is essential to fostering personalised learning experiences. #InternationalDayOfEducation #ISPMalaysia.

It's great to welcome parents to our two workshops today, exploring ISP learning language and separately covering safeguarding. At Asia Pacific Schools International Schools Partnership Limited, we emphasise that all children should be safe and happy for them to achieve. Safeguarding is fundamental to the first part of this equation, supporting children to be safe so that they can be happy and achieving. Engaging with our parents will strengthen our shared understanding, helping make the children even safer. In our ISP language workshop, we are discussing concepts of new and consolidated learning. We are also exploring the differences between knowledge, skills, and understanding. There is plenty of evidence that metacognition (thinking about thinking) can be a powerful aid to learning (see, for example, the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF) summary of the impact of metacognition. We are really looking forward to these discussions 😊. Even more simply, it's always lovely to be engaging face-to-face with our families, something which we no longer take for granted in a post-pandemic world!

We are thrilled to welcome a group of 95 Korean students who will be joining Asia Pacific Schools International Schools Partnership Limited for a month. This exchange promises to offer valuable exposure for both our students and our Korean guests. The visiting students will actively participate in our daily lessons, including English as an Additional Language (EAL) classes. This marks the third occurrence of such an exchange since last year, and we are delighted to note the presence of returning participants.   It is truly heartening to observe our students, as young as Year 1, taking responsibility for ensuring the comfort of their Korean buddies. They have been instrumental in helping their buddies settle in and providing assistance when needed. This collaborative and supportive atmosphere is a testament to the positive impact of such cultural exchanges on our school community.
