Thank you to everyone who attended the Building Opportunity for Housing open houses on September 19 and September 21. If you were unable to attend either of those, you can watch a recording of the virtual open house to learn more about the proposed draft text amendments. 

Phase 2 of Building Opportunity for Housing

Plan Commission Public Hearing on October 11

The Spokane Plan Commission will hear the proposed Spokane Municipal Code text amendments for Phase 2 of Building Opportunity for Housing at its October 11 public hearing. Members of the public who wish to speak at the hearing may sign up using the directions and link in the Plan Commission agenda packet. Details on how to submit written public comments can be found on the project webpage.


Plan Commission will also be making a recommendation for the 2024-2029 Citywide Capital Improvement Program (CIP) at the October 11 hearing.

The City's economic development policy is to align public investments in neighborhood planning, community development and infrastructure development with private sector investments, resulting in increased opportunities for business growth and to provide its citizens with safe, affordable, and quality residential living environments.   • September 27 Public Workshop: Plan Commission heard a presentation on the General Facilities Charges (GFCs) and discussed the proposed draft code amendments as part of Phase 2 of Building Opportunity for Housing. This was the last Plan Commission Public Workshop on Building Opportunity for Housing before the October 11 hearing. [watch recording]

WHAT'S NEXT?

  • Wednesday, October 11 Public Workshop: Plan Commission will be discussing General Facilities Charges (GFCs).
  • Wednesday, October 11 Public Hearing: Phase 2 code amendments of Building Opportunity for Housing will be before the Plan Commission for a recommendation to City Council, as well as the 2024-2029 Citywide CIP.
