Pedestrian impacts: North Academic District accessible route construction

To accommodate the development of an Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)-compliant pathway spanning from the Transit Center to the Drillfield, a portion of the outdoor space between Pamplin and Burruss halls will be closed beginning Monday, July 15, through mid fall 2024 to ensure pedestrian safety.
As impacts to accessible and pedestrian routes evolve through the pathway's development, updates will be shared.
Pedestrian and accessible route impacts: July 17-24
From approximately Wednesday, July 17 - Wednesday July 24, accessible routes will be available:
- Along the north side of Derring Hall (Hitt Hall side) and via elevators through Cowgill and Derring Halls
- Through the Pamplin Hall parking lot, through Pamplin Hall via elevators, through the east side of Pamplin Hall (Burruss Hall side), along the pathway to the north of Williams Hall (Pamplin Hall side) and toward the Drillfield
- Through Burchard Plaza, along the east side of Burruss Hall (Norris Hall side), along the pathway to the north of Patton hall (Norris Hall side), through Patton Hall via elevators to the Drillfield
Additional pedestrian routes will be available along the west side of Burruss Hall (Pamplin Hall side) and between Robeson and Pamplin Halls.
Pedestrian and accessible route impacts: July 24-Aug. 7
From Wednesday, July 24 - Wednesday, Aug. 7, the accessible pathway parallel to the west side of Burruss Hall and the east side of Johnston Student Center will be open.
Pedestrian and accessible route impacts: Aug. 7-14
From Wednesday, Aug. 7 - Wednesday, Aug. 14, the accessible pathway parallel to the west side of Burruss Hall and the east side of Johnston Student Center will be temporarily closed between the two buildings.
Additional pedestrian routes will be available along the east side of Burruss Hall (Norris Hall side) and between Robeson and Pamplin halls.
Pedestrian and accessible route impacts: Aug. 14-Sept. 8
From Wednesday, Aug. 14 - Sunday, Sept. 8, the accessible pathway parallel to the west side of Burruss Hall and the east side of Johnston Student Center will be temporarily closed between the two buildings.
An accessible interior route from Pamplin Hall, through Johnston Student Center, and in to Burruss Hall will be available.
Additional pedestrian routes will be available along the east side of Burruss Hall (Norris Hall side) and between Robeson and Pamplin halls.
Pedestrian and accessible route impacts: Sept. 7-8
From Saturday Sept. 7 to Sunday, Sept. 8, the Burruss Hall door on the north-west side of the building will be temporarily closed. Egress signage will be posted prior to the start of work.
Pedestrian and accessible route impacts: Beginning Sept. 9
Beginning Monday, Sept. 9, the accessible pathway parallel to the west side of Burruss Hall and the east side of Johnston Student Center will be open between the two buildings.
An accessible interior route from Pamplin Hall, through Johnston Student Center, and in to Burruss Hall will continute to be available.
Additional pedestrian routes will be available along the east side of Burruss Hall (Norris Hall side) and between Robeson and Pamplin halls.
Directional signage will be posted to assist with navigation.
