UPDATE (Thursday):
Captain Dave Scroggins with the Rossville Police Department sent a statement to the newsroom, saying Dunn will "no longer be performing duties with the Rossville Police Department."
Scroggins said, "It is important that everyone understand Officer Dunn certainly enjoys the First Amendment Right to post his opinions. However, when those posts or opinions detract from his ability to effectively serve the community it is in the best interest of the community that he no longer be assigned those duties."

The Rossville Police Department is investigating after one of its police officers recently shared a post with an added comment on Facebook that some people have found offensive.
On June 15th, Skipper Dunn shared a post showing the mugshots of five black suspects in a Georgia home invasion from four years ago with the comment "I think a hanging is in order."
Rossville Police Detective Dave Scroggins confirmed to NewsChannel 9 Skipper Dunn is a part-time police officer who has been with the department for three years.
LaFayette Police confirms to us that Dunn retired as a career officer from their department in December of 2017, and worked as a School Resource Officer at Lafayette High School.

The shared social media post has since been deleted from Dunn's page.
The Rossville Police Department says an investigation is underway but right now, Dunn is not suspended.
On Wednesday, Rossville Police Detective, Dave Scroggins, confirmed an investigation is underway.
NewsChannel 9 reached out to Dunn for a comment. He wouldn’t defend his post on camera, but says he’s not a racist.
He says he would have suggested the hanging, no matter the race of suspects he shared.Dunn also told us he’s very disappointed and sad that his career in law enforcement could end this way.
We also requested the Rossville PD's social media policy for its officers.
What they sent us doesn’t deal specifically with officers' personal social media use. But, it says staff and elected officials must not post or respond to material that is hateful, racist, or sexist.
