Construction in progress on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard in San Anselmo*

This week, Marin Water kicked off the Sir Francis Drake Boulevard Pipeline Replacement Project, which will replace about 4,540 feet of aging water pipeline between San Francisco Boulevard and Butterfield Road. This portion of water pipeline is nearing 100 years old, and it has a history of frequent main breaks and costly pavement repairs. Traffic along this section will be reduced to one lane in each direction during construction and drivers should allow extra time when traveling this route. The project is expected to be completed in November. Construction schedules will be adjusted as needed, and in coordination with the Town of San Anselmo, to accommodate the start of school in the fall.

Have you been holding off upgrading your washing machine? With rebates for those ubiquitous home appliances ending June 30, there will never be a better time to upgrade.

Rebates up to $150 are available for customers who upgrade older toilets to new, low-water-use models. And customers can earn up to $100 cash back when they replace water-wasting old clothes washers with high-efficiency models.

Replacing your clothes washing machine with a high-efficiency model saves you up to 27 gallons of water per load. Swapping to a high-efficiency toilet saves households around 13,000 gallons of water a year. These long-term water savings also equate to ongoing savings on your water bill.

Act fast, though. These rebate programs are officially ending June 30!

Is your landscaping getting the right amount of water?

You might be surprised. That was the case for Chris of Tiburon, a Marin Water customer who discovered previous irrigation recommendations had him using double the amount of water he needed on outdoor home irrigation.

How did he do it?

He started by referencing Marin Water’s Weekly Watering Schedule, which provides a recommended irrigation schedule each week based on irrigation equipment, plant type and weather conditions.

Through small adjustments and minor repairs to his irrigation system, Chris was able to reduce his home’s outdoor water use by 34%, and the cost of his bi-monthly water bills fell as well – all without a single change to the way Chris and his wife use water indoors.
