I attended my first tech event as a volunteer! 🤓✅ Over the weekend, I had the incredible opportunity to attend the #FusionTechFest organized by GenZtechies and it was quite the experience! One of my major goals this year was to put myself out there in the tech space, and attending this event was a very significant step for me. 💫 As a volunteer, I had the pleasure of working with my colleague Ijeoma Onyechi, Omotomike Ogunyemi, a fellow woman in design, and the rest of the welfare team to contribute to an amazing event focused on Bringing together gen-z's in tech to learn, grow, and network. 🚀 The event lineup was packed with power, featuring speakers from Amazon Web Services (AWS), Wix, Paystack, Kora among many others. Although I was mostly on my toes, I still got the chance to hear from experienced keynote speakers from these leading industries, and even had some one-on-one insightful conversations. ✨ The highlight of the event for me was meeting Sodiq Akinjobi of GDG. His talk was exactly the wake-up call I needed, especially since I've been on a bit of a hiatus. "Done is better than perfect" was something he said that resonated with me—as someone who can be a chronic perfectionist, this was a valuable reminder. He shared 10 tips from his 10 years in the tech space that were both inspiring and actionable. ✅ I also had thought-provoking conversations with staff members at Kora and Paystack, where I learned the power of uniqueness and collaboration—two brands working in the same sector with rather similar branding styles, yet making their distinct impact. It was an amazing time doing it afraid, and I’m looking forward to more networking events like these!

How often do we get the chance to meet the people that inspire us in person? Yesterday at Fusion Tech Fest, I was almost able to meet someone who has been a huge inspiration to me—Nathan Nwachuku, founder of Klas and Chairman at TerraHaptix. Nathan Nwachuku is someone I’ve looked up to since last year. I’ve watched nearly all his podcasts and closely followed his journey. He’s someone who has walked in the shoes I find myself in now, and I truly admire his path. The night before Fusion Tech Fest, something incredible happened. Nathan Nwachuku saw a message I had sent him back in June where I mentioned how much I relate to his journey as a first-time founder and how I’ve been navigating similar challenges. To my surprise, he replied and asked if I was attending the Fusion Tech Fest. You can imagine my excitement! I was over the moon and prepared five key questions to ask him, hoping to gain valuable insights. At the event, I saw Nathan Nwachuku, and I was thrilled to finally be in the same room with someone I’ve admired for so long. He was very down-to-earth, a genuinely chill guy. But, as life would have it, I missed the opportunity to speak with him. Nathan Nwachuku had to leave for a meeting in Abuja before I could get a chance to sit down with him. I was pretty heartbroken because I was there specifically to gain insights from him. I’m still holding onto hope for a virtual meeting. Nathan Nwachuku, if you’re reading this, please let’s make it happen! I have some important questions, and I believe your guidance would be incredibly valuable for both my career and my startup journey. Please check your LinkedIn DMs. Despite missing out on a conversation with Nathan Nwachuku, Fusion Tech Fest was an amazing experience overall. I made several great connections and even had an unexpected encounter with Jeiel Damina from a YouTube TV series my younger sister loves—so I grabbed a picture for her! A big thank you to GenZtechies for the fantastic event and for bringing so many inspiring people together. Here’s to hoping for more opportunities to connect and learn! #Networking #Mentorship #FusionTechFest
