We said it was a wrap yesterday. But in all honesty, it is just the beginning and I am so excited for what is to come. A special thanks to the organizers of the Green Building Council of Nigeria (GBCN) for remembering the youth by the organization of the Youth Empowerment Exchange. ‘In the heart of every young person lies the potential for greatness’. I’m glad to have tirelessly worked on an innovative solution with my team members and more thrilled to have secured the 3rd place at the Youth Empowerment Exchange 2024. My solution focused on implementing water plus land bodies to create electricity constantly for urban areas which are characterized by low land space. Thank you to Bakang Moeng, Jacqueline (Osademey) Aki, Maama Adeshina, Arc. Emmanuel FALUDE DGNB, LEED AP BD C, LEED FACULTY, EDGE EXP, ESG CN, Prince Emmanuel Audu MGBCN and everyone who provided their guidance on the design, ideas generation, and good presentation skills. Thank you to Ayodeji Oke for always keeping your students informed. Thank you Maama Adeshina for your nods and for helping me find courage in your eyes during the presentation. Thank you to Dr. MKO Balogun, MIoD FNSE EDGE Expert. CFT. For ensuring that we were comfortable and having the very best time! Thank you to my big sister Morenike A. for editing my slides. Especially grateful to my physics teacher, integral parts of group 1A’s solution took me back to my secondary school days. Shoutout to my friends and FUTA connects for making this journey worthwhile! Omorinsola Adekoya Oluwaseun DAODU Ayomipo George, you guys are doing really well. I was so happy to see Africans come together to make decisions that matter to our lives. We have spoken so much and we believe now is the time to begin the work. As Nasra Nanda powerfully remarked, ‘the time for talk is over’ we Africans and Africa must come together to take charge of the future. The future is here and it begins with you and I. #BuildingCodes #SustainableConstruction #UrbanDevelopment #FutureCitiesAfrica #FutureCitiesSummit2024 #ABGSummit2024 #SustainableUrbanPlanning

About two months ago, one of my mentors in construction, Moses Itanola reached out to me with the link to the registration for this event. In response, I hurriedly registered and gave in my input thinking that it was just an event until I was eventually picked and realized that we were to be put into group and come up with a solution to a one of the challenges emphasized in the #Africamanifesto, infrastructure actually. Through these past weeks, I've received immense support from my friends and families and my team members who contributed to our success. And yesterday, we got to pitch at the Youth Empowerment Exchange 1.0 programme and we came second place! Grateful to Green Building Council Nigeria for this immense opportunity to learn, grow, network and deploy innovative solutions to see that our country solves the challenges in the Africa Manifesto. I also want to appreciate the efforts of Bakang Moeng for her mentorship during the workshop, Oluwagbemiro Bello for helping out with his creative juices, Dr. Sanmi Olowosile for making me accept that it was possible and special thanks to Madam Maama Adesina for holding our hands through the workshop sessions. A sustainable present and future is possible and I am glad to be a part of this development in our nation! Shoutout to, Oluwaseun DAODU, Oladoyin Abidemi Akintola, my colleagues and schoolmates on the empowerment programme.🤗 #BuildingCodes #SustainableConstruction #UrbanDevelopment #FutureCitiesAfrica #FutureCitiesSummit2024 #AGBSummit2024 #SustainableUrbanPlanning
