Today’s AA startup spotlight is CDIAL.AI! Location: Nigeria 🇳🇬 CDIAL’s mission is to create conversational AI that can communicate with anyone in any African language or dialect. Led by Yinka I. and Shona Ọlálérè, a team of linguistics researchers, CDIAL runs on a proprietary model trained on 3B+ parameters and knowledge ethically sourced from native speakers across Africa to deliver ‘Indigenius’, the world’s first multilingual speech-first LLM fine-tuned for African dialects and contexts. By Demo Day, CDIAL AI had: 🎖️ A 68% BLEU score 🗣️ 13 languages covered 💨 1300ms latency With global language models trained on internet data with limited inclusion of Africa’s mostly oralistic languages, CDIAL is looking to create a robust dataset of African languages that can allow AI-driven companies engage with African consumers in languages ranging from Yoruba to Xhosa and everything in between.
