Gen Z Tag: Right or Wrong? As someone who didn’t want to be identified as Gen Z, attending the Gen Z Summit 2.0 was a literal struggle—especially given the vices and moral decadence often associated with this generation. But in the end, I not only attended but also volunteered and contributed to making the summit a success, thanks to a recommendation from Prosperity Olorunfemi O. Prior to Debola Deji - Kurunmi's session, Oreyemi Olufeagba advised me to listen attentively—and I’m grateful I did. Here are some of the powerful insights from DDK's talk: Purpose: Find a purpose worth fighting for and be convicted of your vision. Preparation: On the day of opportunity, what historical data will back you up? Leadership: Grow your competence and frame an agenda for a purposeful life. Mentorship: It’s not overrated—seek it to elevate your game. Technology: As digital natives, we must use technology to drive change. Resilience: Learn how to handle criticism and setbacks with a unique execution system. These insights, along with the entire experience, have left me inspired and more determined to live a purpose-driven life. Additionally, Prasanna Kumar Burri emphasized the critical role of purpose in driving leadership. The summit truly delivered value for my time, and I now wear my Gen Z badge proudly—Gen Z for positive change. A big thank you to Purpose-Drive Global 🌍 and Yinka David-Kaiyewu for organizing such an impactful event. It was a day of growth, learning, and inspiration, and I am proud to have been part of it. A big shoutout to Anne Kissiedu, Kehinde Arasi, and Anointed Adekunle for making the journey of volunteering worth it. To Pleasant Dinehin, Asuquo Samuel, DESTINY WOYIKE, Daberechi Okorie, and Joshua Noruwa — thank you for being part of this incredible experience. P.S. Did you struggle with the “Gen Z” tag? Share your Gen Z Summit experience in the comments. Which session did you enjoy the most and why?

GenZ summit - a win-win experience 📍As a rising professional in the field of software development, being purpose driven and having a clear vision is a yardstick to measure if I'd reach my full potential. 📍At the much talked about GenZ summit, issues such as technology, media, and entrepreneurship were seriously addressed, with each speaker bringing their expertise to play. 🗣Oluwatoyin Banjo (M.Sc, CMC, FIMC, Ph.D-in-View) discourse stood out for me as she explained the expediency of making social and global impact and relevance 🗣Prasanna Kumar Burri also highlighted that a purpose driven leader must ➖Identify value ➖set vision ➖take action 🗣Debola Deji - Kurunmi mentioned that a true leader is futuristic, not just moved by quick ,immediate, or unsustainable wins ✔This programme, in its entirety, was a win for me as a software developer. 🏁I got richer as Dorcas Nwaeke puts it, I met Emmanuel Nduka, Prosperity Olorunfemi O. ,Mojetioluwa Ewetola, Pleasant Dinehin, Daberechi Okorie, DESTINY WOYIKE. P.S. Let's have your GenZ summit experience at the comment section and get to know ourselves better. I met the Special Assistant to the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, but I almost didn't show up. Backstory: I signed up to volunteer for the #GenZSummit in July and was later assigned as a protocol officer to Mrs. Orifunke Lawal in August. The evening before the event, I received a rejection email that nearly brought me to tears (no, I actually cried). This was something I had been eagerly waiting for weeks. I had made plans around it, and suddenly, it felt like everything was crashing down. On top of that, I wasn’t feeling my best and just wanted to stay in bed and rest. It was the weekend after all, and I had worked all week long. Besides, I live far from the venue, and it seemed like everything was discouraging me from attending. But I reminded myself that setbacks are temporary, and the opportunity to grow and connect shouldn’t be missed. I decided to show up because I believe in pushing through challenges, even when the odds seem stacked against me. I encouraged myself to rise above the disappointment, knowing that showing up could lead to something greater. And… I’m happy I did! Not only was I able to contribute to the success of the event, but I also met and connected with great minds. Words can’t even explain how thankful I am. Looking back, if I hadn’t gone, I would have deeply regretted it. So, I encourage you to show up! Start now! Start afraid even—just start. Just like Debola Deji - Kurunmi said during the Summit, "Obtain a significant degree of urgency, don't be held back by doubts." Finish that online course, sign up for that program, set up your freelance account. Don’t be derailed by the noise, but find the voice within you. Show up for yourself; do it for your future self. We often stay stagnant in over-processing, over-analyzing, overthinking. I’m not saying planning isn’t good, but during the time you spend overthinking, someone else has already done what you want to do. What’s the worst that could happen? You’d fail? Then RISE AGAIN! Marc Randolph explains this perfectly (reference the screenshot below). And just as Nike says: Just do it! By the way, I turned plus one today. Yay! 🎉

Gen Z Summit Africa 2.0 by Purpose-Drive Global 🌍 The Intersection of Media, Tech, and Entrepreneurship I had the incredible opportunity to attend Gen Z Summit Africa 2.0 this year, and the knowledge shared was beyond impactful! Here are some of the topics that were discussed Hacking the System for Good: Media, Tech, and Entrepreneurship Oluwatoyin Banjo (M.Sc, CMC, FIMC, Ph.D-in-View) highlighted the power of media and tech for social change: “Whoever controls the media, controls the mind.” When combined with technology and entrepreneurship, media becomes a tool for scalable, adaptable problem-solving. Igniting Africa’s Leadership Prasanna Kumar Burri emphasized that real leadership is about serving, making an impact, and setting a clear vision. Use media strategically to draw inspiration, analyze problems, and scale your impact. True Leaders are Long Haulers Debola Deji - Kurunmi on the importance of purpose: “When you find a purpose worth fighting for, you become a person worth becoming.” Leadership requires resilience and playing the long-term game. Mental Health Matters Chenaniah BAMISHILE (ACIPM, HRPL) compared mental health to a towel soaking up emotions—if neglected, it breaks down. Henrietta Iriogbe also stressed the critical importance of mental health. First Panel Session: Uniqueness in the world of media, technology and entrepreneurship by Orifunke Lawal, OLUWATOBI AYODELE , Afolabi Sokeye and Victor Fatanmi • Stay curious, ask questions, and go head-on for what you believe in. • Preserve our cultural heritage, even as we embrace the internet. • Support local products to help grow our economy. • Localize media content by integrating our culture while reaching a global audience. • Share your backstory—people want to see the process, not just the finished product. • Olufunke urged us to engage with local authorities and use media to voice our concerns effectively. Second Panel Session: Bridging the gap in business education by Haoma Worgwu , Emmanuel Nduka , Rosemond Phil-Othihiwa, Francis Imariabe, Solomon O. Ayodele and Oluchukwu CHIADIKA • Challenge your assumptions before starting a venture. • Passion isn’t enough—understand the business side of your skills. • Collaborate with those in your circle to scale your impact. • Financial literacy isn’t just about managing money; it’s about directing it purposefully. • Consistency on LinkedIn is key—build your brand, and people will invest in your value. I’ll be sharing my personal reflections in a separate post. Stay tuned! Huge shoutout to our host Kanyin Global, you killed it! Can’t wait to see you on even bigger platforms. And special thanks to Eberechi Brown for inviting me. It was absolutely worth it! #genzsummit2024 #genZ

YOUR NEXT BIG BREAK COULD BE ONE CONNECTION AWAY Attending the Gen Z Summit 2.0 was more than just an opportunity to learn, it was a chance to connect with like-minded individuals who share the same passion for innovation and purpose-driven leadership, especially in the tech, media and entrepreneurship sectors. Breaking out of your shell does not mean changing who you are, instead, see it as a means to embrace networking and form meaningful relationships because your next big break could be one connection away. The relationships I formed there have already proven to be invaluable, and I am grateful for the new friendships that emerged. I was able to connect with the likes of Temitope Taiwo, Daberechi Okorie, Ijeoma Onyechi and Eberechi Brown. Oh let me add my sister Favour Ogbonna to that list. I look forward to seeing how we can support each other as we continue to grow and make an impact in our respective fields. To all the amazing people I met at the summit, thank you for the inspiring conversations and for just being sweet. Making new connections with people who share the same vision and values should be something everyone looks forward to doing. Remember the proverb that says, if you want to go fast, go alone but if you want to go far, go with people. #Networking #GenZSummit #CareerGrowth #Innovation #LikeMindedConnections

Hello LinkedIn 👋 Guess who attended a summit yesterday?! But it wasn't just any summit—it was the Gen Z Summit, and I’m so glad I went, despite having more than three reasons not to. A few weeks ago, while scrolling through Instagram, I came across the flyer. The words "Gen Z Summit" caught my eye, and as I checked out the speakers, I thought to myself, "You can't miss this." The same day, I had two other events lined up, and I was torn about what to do. I was chatting with a friend about it, and he advised me, "Mary, think it through and pick the one that's most important to you personally." He was logical, while I was getting emotional about it all. What kind of friends do you have? By the time we ended the call, I had already made up my mind—but I didn’t tell him that 😂. I bought my ticket and eagerly looked forward to the summit, with my hopes high. Having heard DDK speak before, I knew I was in for a Radical Shift in mindset. I'll be sharing the lessons I learned and some of the actions I’ll be taking as a result of the summit in my next post. Is this your first time seeing my post? I'm a Human Resources Management student passionate about advocating for the hard-of-hearing community and promoting their inclusion in the workplace. #growth #studentonlinkedIn #GenZ #impact

I help startup founders, corporate organizations and businesses navigate through corporate governance, cybersecurity, risk management and regulatory compliance.

Why is business education important? Speaking to this question asked at the GenZ Summit I highlighted the following; 📌 You are living in a global market 📌 Your average competition is not the neighbour down the street, it’s the 7 year old on the other side of the continent who is constantly being exposed to higher knowledge and finding more ways to implement his ideas in an environment that encourages innovation and doesn’t kill it. 📌 There is an urgent need to continually and rapidly upskil your knowledge and out evolve the last version of yourself. Like Steve Jobs said, Cannibalize yourself before your market does. Welcome to an amazing week and cheers to greatness 🥂 Thank you to Purpose-Drive Global 🌍 and the amazing Yinka David-Kaiyewu for having me. More posts coming 🌟

Hello 👋 Today, I'll be sharing few words with us to reflect upon. I'm going to start by saying, " Too often, we let our dreams remain dormant, hidden away in the depths of our hearts. " We make excuses, telling ourselves that we don't have the time or the resources to pursue them. (Hmmmmmm). Do not despise the power of repetition. Rome wasn't built in a day, and your dreams won't be either. It takes consistent effort and determination to turn dreams into reality. Repetition is the key to mastery, and every small step you take towards your dreams counts. Embrace the process and keep pushing forward, even when it feels challenging. However, knowledge gained is something that cannot be taken away from you. Invest in yourself intellectually, pursue education and personal growth, because that knowledge will always be a valuable asset. In conclusion, as humans, we have the incredible ability to adapt and modify. We can learn from our experiences, make adjustments, and become better versions of ourselves. Embrace your humanity, embrace your flaws, and strive to grow and improve each day. So, let us all commit to taking our dreams out on a date. Let us chase them with the same intensity and passion as we would chase someone we love.(Your Date/Spouse) ❤️🥰😍. Let repetition become our ally, and let knowledge be our guiding light and above all, let us continue to evolve and make our humanity shine in all that we do. 📷 Myself and Desh Deepak Dhobi at the just concluded Gen Z Summit Africa for Media, Technology and Entrepreneurship organised by Purpose-Drive Global 🌍 . Thank you Ma'am Yinka David-Kaiyewu for hosting such an enlightening meeting. So much to say about you Sir. Prasanna Kumar Burri but I'll reserve it for my next post. I really enjoyed your session. ✍️✍️✍️ #TDE #TheDrummingEvangelist #GenZ_Leader

Panel Session Insights: Problem-Solving, Leadership, and Personal Growth During the panel session, six dynamic speakers shared their thoughts on leadership, problem-solving, and how Gen Z can leverage their potential to create meaningful change. Here are some key takeaways from the discussions: Solomon O. Ayodele challenged the way we think about problems. He explained that a problem is only significant if it leads to a solution that people are willing to pay for. To effectively address challenges, we need to evaluate whether our solutions meet real needs and determine how technology can be integrated to enhance their value. Emmanuel Nduka focused on the importance of getting your hands dirty. As Gen Z, we often believe we know it all, but Emmanuel reminded us that wisdom comes from experience and hard work. He emphasized that we can’t give what we don’t have—meaning we need to gain knowledge and practical experience to truly make an impact. Francis Imariabe highlighted the power of skills and talent. She encouraged us to not only develop our abilities but to also understand the business side of our skills. With the guidance of a mentor, she believes we can achieve much more and reach our full potential. Haoma Worgwu offered insightful advice on leveraging youth as an advantage. She urged us to cultivate an attractive presence, show up consistently, and share our knowledge with others. Haoma stressed that having a strong LinkedIn profile is essential, but it’s our active presence and consistent effort that will truly make us stand out. When I asked Haoma about how she achieved so much at a young age, her answer was rooted in her faith. She explained that her success came from following God’s guidance, which directed her on the right path. Her story reminded us all of the importance of knowing God and seeking His direction to achieve our goals. This session further solidified the importance of taking actionable steps towards growth and innovation while staying grounded in faith and mentorship. #leadership #conference #Genz #determination #mentorship

WHEN YOU HAVE A MISSION, YOU DON’T NEED PERMISSION At the Gen Z Summit 2.0, I was struck by the words of Oluwatoyin Banjo (M.Sc, CMC, FIMC, Ph.D-in-View) who powerfully stated, "Whoever controls the media, controls the mind." Her insight into the power of media and technology as tools for social change resonated deeply with me. The idea that "the best way to predict the future is to invent it" is now more than just a phrase, it’s a call to action. I’m committed to being an inventor in my sector, driving innovation and creating the change I want to see. Prasanna Kumar Burri also left a lasting impact with his insights on purpose-driven leadership. He emphasized the importance of identifying values, setting a clear vision, and taking action. I am determined to integrate these principles into my professional journey. Debola Deji - Kurunmi took it a step further, challenging us to reflect on our purpose with life-altering and thought-evoking questions like, "When will you be ready to ascend into another level of existence?" Her comments on the declaration of personal power, "When you find a purpose worth fighting for, you become a person worth becoming, I refuse to be carried away by the tyranny of the ordinary, there's got to be more" were both empowering and life-changing. Her advice to seek mentorship to affirm that our ambitions are not only valid but necessary was a reminder that sometimes, in her own words ‘we just need another person to validate that our type of crazy is okay’’ The panel sessions were equally inspiring, with panelists like Afolabi Sokeye encouraging us to be curious and obsessive about our work. It was a pleasure to gain insights and reconnect with Haoma Worgwu, and Emmanuel Nduka, both of whom were part of the outstanding panelists. I was also excited to witness Tosin Olomu receive a well-deserved award. His lively and friendly demeanor made the experience even more memorable. To those not mentioned here, know that your insights and contributions were invaluable. I am grateful for the knowledge and inspiration shared. Leadership is not about titles or positions, it's about action and example and according to DDK ''NOW I HAVE A MISSION, I DON'T NEED PERMISSION'' Stay tuned for my next post, where I’ll dive into the connections I made with like-minded individuals I met at the Gen Z Summit. #genzsummit2024 #genzleader #purposedriven
