  • Division Director's New Week Message Good day, Leaders. Congratulations to us all as we head into the last week of June which is also the last week of the 2023/2024 Toastmasters year. As we savour what accomplishments we’ve made personally and as a team, let’s also remember that, by design, we aren’t meant for stagnant satisfaction. Whatever growth we’ve achieved isn’t our final peak; it is simply the training ground for the next ascent since the end of every journey is not a finish line, but the starting point of a new race. Let’s analyze the lessons we’ve learned, the skills we’ve honed, and the momentum we’ve built. And from there take opportunities to refine our strategies, energize our teams, and set our sights on even greater challenges. This however doesn’t mean we won’t celebrate our victories. Because we definitely will do so at the Division Excellence Awards Gala this Saturday the 29th of June at Presken Hotel, Shonibare Estate, Maryland. I urge us all to prepare to attend that crowning event. So, leaders, as we move forward, let’s embrace the thrill of the unknown as it’s our opportunity to break new ground and inspire others to do the same. Remember, the greatest journeys are often those strung together, each victory a stepping stone to a brighter, bolder future. Happy New Week, everyone! Director Kuby Uyanga

  • Division Director's New Week Message Good morning, leaders. “The obstacle is the way.” When Roman Emperor and philosopher, Marcus Aurelius coined the above phrase, he meant that obstacles and challenges in life are not to be avoided or seen as barriers, but rather as opportunities for growth, learning, and personal development. How can an obstacle also be the way? It depends on your perspective. When we confront and overcome obstacles, we can find the path to success and fulfillment. In essence, the obstacle itself becomes the way forward towards achieving our goals and aspirations. As a new week unfolds, embrace the power of perspective. See challenges as opportunities, setbacks as lessons, and uncertainty as adventure. With a positive outlook, every moment becomes a chance to grow, learn, and thrive. Nurture empowering perspectives, allow them shape your reality, and watch as each day unfolds with renewed purpose and possibility. With an optimistic mindset, we can transform any obstacle into a stepping stone towards success. Here's to a week filled with new perspectives and endless possibilities! Director Kuby Uyanga

  • Division Director's New Week Message Good day, leaders. Last week and through the weekend, we held the District 94 conference in Abuja which saw the birth of our new District, 130. The theme of the conference was, “Building Bridges with Words,” and I want to share a few nuggets that came to me in the course of the insightful sessions. You see, words are like stones, which are both effective as building materials and as weapons that cause injury. It’s only when we understand this dual potential that we can employ words in constructive errands. Encouraging words instead of rebukes can uplift someone who’s erred, and empower them to do better in the future. Relevant words which establish commonality can help you connect with a stranger and lead to positive or gainful collaboration. Humble and soothing words to an aggrieved party has the power to mend fences and rebuild relationships. Empowering words spoken to oneself can autosuggest to the subconscious and usher into a higher and more effective state of being. I encourage us all to be mindful of the power of words and resolve to only use them in the construction of bridges and other positive outcomes. In closing, I congratulate Toastmaster Ayotola Olanrewaju who’s been elected Division Director for the 2024/2025 program year! Let’s please give her all the support she needs to take our Division to even greater heights. Have a good evening and a wonderful week. Director Kuby Uyanga
