Female run entity for women's rights, women empowerment and gender equality . Tackling gender disparities in the SDGs

About us

Nigeria today, is highlighted by vast socioeconomic disparities. These enormous diversities in living conditions and opportunities are of greatest concern. Like many developing countries around the world the story of gender inequality is not new. Women are amongst the most marginalized and experience barriers in every aspect of our society, with most having little or no access to education, resources and opportunities. The significant gender gaps in education, economic empowerment and political participation that remain in Nigeria are of grave concern. Discriminatory laws and practices, violence against women and gender stereotypes hinder greater progress towards gender equality. The cycle is continuous; it is time to not only talk about it BUT be the active change we desire in our own country. The Women’s Impacting Nigeria Foundation (WIN) was formed out of this necessity. It is a female run, not-for-profit organization, dedicated to positively affecting the socio-economic development of Nigeria, through the empowerment of women. Women’s economic empowerment is a pre-requisite for sustainable development, pro-poor growth and the achievement of the 2030 sustainable development goals. Research shows that empowered women are catalysts for multiplying development efforts. Furthermore, investments in gender equality yield the highest returns of all development investments (OECD, 2010) The attainment of gender equality is not only seen as an end itself, it about and human right issues and equitable societies. Women must have more equitable access to assets and services. Employment opportunities must be improved while increasing the recognition of women’s vast unpaid work. Achieving women’s economic empowerment however, is not a quick fix and will require sound public policies, a holistic approach, long-term commitment from ALL development actors.

This statistic reflects a significant disparity in income and access to resources, highlighting the challenges faced by women in achieving economic stability and independence. What Women Impacting Nigeria (WIN) is Doing to Fight Poverty Among Women: - Skills Development Programs - Entrepreneurship Support - Advocacy and Policy Influence - Community Outreach and Support - Partnerships for Sustainable Development These efforts are part of WIN’s broader mission to create a more equitable and supportive environment for women in Nigeria, helping them overcome the barriers that contribute to poverty. #WomenImpactingNigeria #WIN #NGO #EndPovertyForWomen #SheCanThrive

The fight for justice and equality must extend to every corner of our world, including the protection and rights of Indigenous women and girls. They face unique challenges, as discrimination and violence continue to jeopardise their access to land and resources vital for their well-being and survival. Indigenous women and girls often bear the brunt of systemic injustices, which can undermine their right to live free from fear and to benefit from the land that has been their home for generations. It is our responsibility to ensure they receive the protection and support they deserve. Women Impacting Nigeria (WIN) is committed to amplifying the voices of Indigenous women and advocating for their safety and equal rights. This means confronting the violence they face, advocating for their right to land, and standing with them in their fight for justice and respect. Let’s unite to protect the dignity of every Indigenous woman and girl. Together, we can work towards a world where they have the freedom and opportunities to thrive, unhindered by discrimination and violence. #WomenImpactingNigeria #WIN #NGO #FightForEqualityAndJustice #DignityForAllWomen
