The 𝗖𝗢₂ 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗟𝗮𝗱𝗱𝗲𝗿 was employed to measure and incentivize CO₂ ambition levels among bidders. 🔧 The tender saw three bids, with the winning joint venture Jan DE NUL – John COCKERILL meeting the highest CO₂ ambition level and securing the contract for €6.6M. 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐜𝐚𝐬𝐞: 𝐑𝐞𝐟𝐮𝐫𝐛𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐊𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐚𝐥𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐚𝐭 (𝐂𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐭) 𝐢𝐧 𝐔𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐭 Utrecht's ‘Kanaalstraat’ is loved not only by city dwellers, but also by international visitors. The bustling, market-like atmosphere, where specialities from different cultures are offered, contributes greatly to this. On the other hand, because of its popularity, the street is also very busy. And that had to change, according to the municipality of Utrecht (Gemeente Utrecht). A quieter and greener streetscape would make the location even more attractive. 🌿🌿 To carry out this project, the contract was awarded to construction company Kroeze Infra bv. And to ensure the sustainability of the construction, the CO₂ Performance Ladder was part of the tender. We spoke to Koen Senders, project director at Kroeze Infra, and Freek Prozee, project director at the municipality of Utrecht, about the redevelopment of the Kanaalstraat, which has now been completed following the one and a half year long works.
