Last week, the DCCC, in partnership with the Geneva Digital Health Hub (gdhub), hosted a panel discussion during the World Health Organization's Global Initiative on Digital Health Multistakeholder Dialogue. Focused on "#transformativepartnerships for resilient #digitalhealth," the event brought together various stakeholders in the global health space. 👏Special thanks to our panelists: Garrett Mehl, Marelize Gorgens, Carla Goulart Peron, MD MBA, Carolina Batista MD, and Cyril Seck for their invaluable insights and active engagement. And DCCC's Jeroen Maas for moderating. 💡Key Highlights: 🏥 Breaking Down Fragmentation: #GIDH is tackling the fragmentation in global health by helping governments articulate clear visions for digital health infrastructure and connecting countries to share their learnings and innovations. 🤝 Collaboration is Key: As Marelize Gorgens put it, "Digital [health] is a team sport." We must overcome hyper-fragmentation through standardized digital health infrastructure and interoperability. The right incentives are needed to make transformative partnerships work. 👥 Equity and Inclusion: Ensuring that digital health solutions are equitable, affordable, and accessible to marginalized communities is vital. “Digital health is a team sport”. It certainly was a team on stage at the panel session on #Transformative partnerships for resilient digital health. Yes, there was a taking stock of things we still have as legacy and that need to change - like fragmentation, siloes, misaligned priorities and -still ongoing- funding of isolated systems. There still is a share of antiquated thinking in the healthcare systems we designed more than a century ago. 💡 But we’re evolving! Reverberating through the session was a very clear messaging: we will be part of the solution. We will form Innovative partnerships and sustainable funding models. We will create #intentional partnerships to further build redesigned, #resilient health systems to ensure that the benefits of digital health reach everyone, everywhere. How do we go forward? 🔹 Being #transparent in what we do and what we require 🔹 Approaching the situations with an agile ‘how can we help’ attitude 🔹 Interoperable – any digital solution will be required to use international standards 🔹 With #intent: by shaping the right incentive structures to build digital health partnerships for long-term impact 🔹 Including all the right partners at the right time, including health workers, to not only accelerate digital health, but also transform the health system for better and more effective #access to quality care.   🌍 With great appreciation for the panelists and their respective organizations who all were very clear in their messaging: we will be part of the solution, and we are open to adapt our behavior to make this work. As the DCCC, we are on a journey aimed at interconnecting the care chain and fostering collaborative efforts to deliver scalable #digitalhealth solutions. This is precisely why we value our collaboration with the Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University, which serves as both a reflection and a learning partner. Together, we have delved into the intricacies of multi-stakeholder #coalitions, recognizing the complexities involved. Through this collaboration, we have had the privilege of working alongside Stella Pfisterer, gaining invaluable insights into the dynamics at play. Our joint action research project demonstrates the significant impact of harnessing academia's expertise to cultivate more robust and adaptable coalitions.
