This shift not only makes the production process more energy-efficient but also significantly reduces costs. 🌱💡 By adapting our SmartMachineBase (SMB) into a controlled mini-environment, we're now able to cater to the specific needs of battery production. This approach allows for precise control of humidity and temperature, ensuring optimal conditions for battery manufacturing. Demcon industrial systems is your partner for production technology. As part of the Demcon group, we develop, create and support technical solutions for the manufacturing industry. Our solutions are modular, scalable and based on state-of-the-art industry standards in combination with innovative concepts. These may range from sub-modules to complete turnkey production lines and include functions like high precision product assembly and quality inspection with industrial vision cameras and algorithms. Together with selected partners and our customers, we define a tailored vision on the theme “Smart Industry” and turn this into tangible technology for your business. Our own motion controller, complete with drives and software, enables us to respond to your positioning challenges with strong and reliable answers. Demcon industrial systems is an independent part of the Demcon group, consisting of three operating companies with around 60 employees and serving the industrial market. The Demcon Group has access to many (>500) engineering specialists in different disciplines. We like to take on difficult challenges which cannot be solved straight away, but which often need a creative approach with fundamental technical knowledge. 𝗪𝗲'𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳𝗳! Yesterday we kicked off the B2B Marketing course. Over the next ten weeks, our Master of Business Administration students will collaborate in teams to tackle real-world challenges in the field of Service presented by nine companies. The students receive guidance from business coaches; experts in service theory and practice. In the spirit of challenge-based learning, this learning experience encourages students - both individually and collectively - to continually address and reflect on the complexities and challenges they encounter throughout their journey. Organizing and coordinating the course demands intensive preparation, so it is gratifying to see that such high interest in the field of service and business marketing from both students and companies. I am eager to see the innovative ideas emerging. The course has a solid track record over the years, but this year's version is unique for two reasons: 1️⃣ We have enhanced and innovated our course's 'value proposition' by implementing sustainable collaboration models between universities and companies. 2️⃣ Directors and senior managers from BAOWU Steel Group - partaking in @ETM's executive program and under the leadership of Raymond Loohuis - engage in this year’s course. Thanks to all the companies dedicated to and passionate about Service in Business Marketing. Engaging enthusiastically with our students and embracing new research-generated knowledge demonstrates an open and collaborative spirit. 𝗕𝗲𝗮𝗱-𝘁𝗼-𝗕𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗳𝗲𝗿 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗱 🎥 One of the key benefits of the SCINUS bioreactor NG is the ability to expand your culture volume without interrupting your cells for passaging. How does it work? By leveraging the bead-to-bead transfer capacity of adherent cell types. In the video below, you’ll see a schematic representation of how adherent cells migrate from one microcarrier to the other. During a brief pause of the rocker system, the microcarriers settle closely together in the bioreactor bag, giving cells enough time to migrate to fresh, empty microcarriers. Once all microcarriers are full, we simply expand the bag, adding new medium and fresh microcarriers— and there is no harvesting or passaging required! Empowering Tomorrow’s Batteries Today! Demcon industrial systems is the engineering partner of E-magy for the development of their GEN2 casting machine. This machine will produce their unique nanoporous silicon anode material for lithium-ion batteries. In the casting machine, liquid silicon is poured onto cassettes after which it solidifies and acquires its specific properties. We have the technical lead-/coordinating role in this project and our focus is on the engineering of the machine, together with the technological expertise and experience of E-magy. Other Demcon entities that are participating in this phase are Demcon high-tech systems, Demcon multiphysics and Demcon focal. Again, a nice example of innovation that can be accelerated by the right collaboration. E-magy plans the new GEN2 machine to scale and enhance their production of nanoporous silicon. This advanced material increases #battery performance by offering the highest energy density at the lowest costs per kWh, faster charging capabilities, and reduced anode expansion. The silicon anodes produced with this unique material will improve the efficiency of battery manufacturing and is compatible with existing production processes. Lithium-ion batteries are mainly used in consumer electronics and Electric Vehicle (EV) markets where they can contribute to significantly longer driving ranges, faster charging times, and overall better performance, with a reduced environmental impact. Summer BBQ in Enschede! 🌞 Yesterday, our team in Enschede came together for a summer BBQ and to kick off the holiday season. We enjoyed delicious food, prepared by a few talented colleagues who showed off their (culinary) skills outside of the office. Project completed! Last week, we delivered this machine, jointly developed with Demcon GmbH, to Enzyre B.V. for the development of their #Enzycards. The software was co-developed with our colleagues in Münster, with hardware engineered by Demcon industrial systems Enschede. Read more about the technical characteristics of the machine below! About the machine The machine is designed to connect blisters and filters to a microfluidic card. The blister and filter are clamped between a ring and the microfluidic card. This ring is bonded to the microfluidic card through the #ultrasonic-welding process. By opening the machine's lid, the operator can place the components of the Enzycard in the carrier and then close the lid. The process will then start automatically, and the carrier will move to the two welding modules to perform the welding actions. When the product is ready to be removed from the machine, the operator will receive a notification indicating whether the product has been welded correctly, and the product can be manually removed from the carrier. The process can then be restarted by placing new products in the carrier and closing the lid. What makes this machine unique? Equipped with two welding modules from Herrmann Ultraschall, each with different sonotrodes, the machine is highly adaptable to and suitable for various product designs without requiring changes to its current setup. This operational flexibility, combined with a 15-second cycle time, makes it ideal for our #SmartManufacturingTable. Moreover, the welding modules are designed for future integration into high-volume production lines on our #SmartMachineBase, ensuring a scalable and future-ready production solution! How will Enzyre use the machine? The products produced by this machine will serve as disposables for the ENZYPAD, which enables blood coagulation analysis at the patient’s location. This data is then accessible to the treating physician, regardless of their location.
