Integrating and connecting 11,270 sub-systems, sensors and components in the 10 compact watertight compartments of this 6/7-meter high-tech vessel. 𝐃𝐞𝐦𝐜𝐀𝐢𝐫 𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐬𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐬 𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐰𝐞𝐝 𝐩𝐮𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐔𝐤𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐞 In 2020, during the hectic early days of the pandemic, intensive care units faced a serious shortage of ventilation equipment for corona patients. At the request of the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport (VWS), Demcon rapidly developed the DemcAir ventilation system. The DemcAir was based on the unique ventilation technology developed by Demcon macawi respiratory systems for use with every patient, from premature infants to adults. The separate ventilation modules had been in production at Demcon for many years for supply to foreign respiratory system manufacturers. Now, for the first time, Demcon developed a complete ventilation system itself, for a domestic client. Demcon developed the DemcAir system within four weeks and delivered a total of 500 systems to VWS. Fortunately, the peak of corona patients had leveled off and the DemcAir did not need to be deployed. Since then, the systems have been in storage. Recently, VWS decided to donate them to Ukraine. Demcon was requested to service the systems and replace parts where needed. Last month a team from Demcon location Best performed the service with the help of colleagues from other locations. All systems were tested and parts replaced where necessary. VWS had set a deadline of June 1 to be ready for shipment; thanks to the enthusiastic efforts of the Demcon employees, May 17 everything was ready for shipment. #demcon #lifesciencesandhealth #health #donation #hightech

𝐈𝐦𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐞𝐱𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐜𝐮𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠-𝐞𝐝𝐠𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐲𝐜𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬. Currently, textile recycling plants manually sort textiles based on labels, a labor-intensive and unreliable process that contributes to a growing pile of textile waste. ⛰️🗑️   This is where Maura Dantuma, an optical engineer at Demcon focal, steps in. Maura is pioneering a sensor-based recycling technique that directly analyzes textile properties, bypassing the need for unreliable labels and enabling automated sorting. This innovation promises a more reliable, cost-effective, and time-efficient recycling process, significantly reducing #textile #waste. ♻️   In her role, Maura is at the forefront of this diverse and groundbreaking project. With basic queueing theory based on the customer's already available logging data from the current production system, we have shown that a different architecture would increase the system's throughput by 50%. Did you know that early ALS diagnosis can lead to a better quality of life in patients with ALS?   This was shown in a study https://lnkd.in/etWw5SVi by Subodh Chapagain et al., July 2023, which aim was to demonstrate that early diagnosis is essential for effective management of the disease.   Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (#ALS) is a disease that affects both upper and lower motor neurons, causing a range of symptoms beyond the motor system. Recent research has shown that the autonomic nervous system can also be affected, with symptoms such as orthostatic hypotension, fluctuations in blood pressure, and dizziness being reported. In this study a 58-year-old male patient was diagnosed with ALS with #dysautonomia and #respiratoryfailure. The authors conclude that further research is needed to fully understand the pathophysiology of dysautonomia in ALS and its impact on disease progression and quality of life.   Finapres® devices are used for monitoring #bloodpressure measurement continuously and non-invasively in research into #dysautonomia and #orthostatichypotension, and is a valuable tool for supporting clinical decision making.   Do you want to learn more about the need for more research into ALS?
