⚠️Law enforcement has teamed up with the private sector to stop criminals abusing Cobalt Strike to carry out attacks. Older, unlicensed versions of the tool were targeted during a week of action led by the National Crime Agency (NCA) and coordinated from Europol HQ. 593 IP addresses linked to criminal activity were taken down. ⚠️ Call blocked: hard and fast action against 54 Spanish phone fraudsters. Spanish and Portuguese law enforcement arrest 54 people responsible for stealing from at least 84 elderly victims using vishing and social engineering tactics. On an action day conducted across the Iberian Peninsula on 4 June 2024, law enforcement arrested 54 people responsible for crimes against elderly citizens. Using a blend of fraudulent phone calls and social engineering, the criminals are responsible for EUR 2 500 000 in losses. At least 84 victims have so far been confirmed, some of whom lost their life savings when the criminals coerced them into handing over their money at their doorsteps. Spanish National Police (Policía Nacional), the Mossos d’Esquadra and the Portuguese Judicial Police (Policía Judiciária) conducted 19 raids, seizing important digital and physical evidence of the crimes.
