Thank you FRAME Magazine for the feature ❤️ ________ THE NEXT SPACE ISSUE 157 - SUMMER 2024 'With Mammatus Generativa, Nolan Junhee Kim integrates generative tools into footwear design. Using various computational techniques and mathematical methods to embed footwear with knowledge, Kim realized designs that evolve through informed mutations. The force vectors of foot strikes, as well as material properties and other boundary conditions, are carefully analyzed to enhance running shoe models and - by proxy - maximize performance. Specific attention is given to the midsoles, which by convention are made using injection moulds and lead to solid and uniform results. 3D-printing technologies allow Kim to also gain control of the midsole's interior space.'
