Podcast alert! 🎙 Our co-founder, Nara, was recently a guest on the Women Disrupting Tech podcast. There, she shared how her experience as a caregiver for her mom inspired her to create Pal to give better support to anyone affected by a life-limiting illness 💙 Listen to the episode here Spotify: https://lnkd.in/eNxQ-Eza Apple: https://apple.co/3At7gzi YouTube: https://lnkd.in/eaaQH8_z
Imagine coming home for a holiday with your family and learning that your mother has a terminal form of cancer. That moment was the start of Nara Moripen's journey into palliative care. One that she wasn't prepared for. And one where the healthcare system could only offer limited support. Her journey inspired her to build Pal | Digital Palliative Care, a digital support tool that empowers family members to be active members of their loved ones' healthcare teams. In episode 64 of Women Disrupting Tech, Nara and I discuss: 🤯The challenges that family members face when providing palliative care 🪄How digital support tools can help them tackle palliative caregiving challenges 🙋🏻♂️ The way to get men involved in caregiving. Plus, Nara shares an interesting perspective on the stats about women in tech and fundraising that you don't want to miss. So, when you're ready to listen and learn how Nara is redefining palliative caregiving with Pal, check out the episode on Spotify, Apple, and YouTube. You'll find the links below. "There is considerable potential for digital health to address challenges facing palliative care." Hospice UK recently published an interesting report on digital health in palliative and end-of-life care. The report covers both benefits, barriers and broader considerations (such as funding of innovations) in detail. I'll cover more of the findings in future posts. The report highlights significant benefits of digital services for those receiving palliative and end-of-life care, including: • allowing people to remain in their homes while receiving end of life care • reducing pressure on in-patient palliative care beds • improving communication between different providers caring for the same person • reducing emergency admissions • reducing infection risk, and • reducing the cost and discomfort of travel. Are you a healthcare provider looking to improve patient care with digital solutions? Contact me for a demo of how Pal can assist you. I've included a link to the report in the comments. #palliativecare #digitalhealth #hospicecare #endoflife

Let's improve quality of life by >75%, shall we? Would you believe us if we claimed the quality of life of patients with palliative care needs could be improved simply by introducing a digital tool? Well, this has actually been proven. The RELIEF study set out to investigate ways for better symptom management and improved comfort in home-based patients with cancer-related palliative care needs in Canada. But, could a simple tool for self-reported symptoms really do the trick? The answer was a resounding YES. After the 2-month study period, the results spoke for themselves ☑ 92% of clinicians reported increased confidence in providing care ☑ 75% of clinicians perceived improved quality of life for their patients ☑ 0% of the patients visited the emergency department for reasons related to symptom management What are your thoughts? Should tools for self-reported symptoms be integrated into the standard of care in community-based palliative care settings? More information about the research can be found here, it's an interesting read: https://lnkd.in/drrEmHyF #evidence #healthtech #palliativecare #qualityoflife #health #palliatievezorg #nhs --- Pal is a digital support platform that enables earlier access to at-home palliative care for anyone affected by a life-limiting illness. You can download the app on app.palhelps.com or get in touch at [email protected] to learn how you can start recommending Pal to your patients and families 💙

100,000 views on a single Instagram reel 🤯 But...does palliative care content even work on Instagram? We've asked ourselves this question sooo many times since we started posting semi-regularly on Instagram sometime last year. We had concerns about being shadow-banned and worried that ✨real, no-filter content about serious illness✨ might not resonate. I guess we were wrong. We just achieved a massive milestone with a reel getting 100,000 views 🎉 And, perhaps best of all, this was all organic and we didn't spend a single euro getting there. Here's to spreading more awareness of palliative care and its benefits 🙌 #socialmedia #healthtech #startups #instagram
