Today, NewCold celebrates 12 years of innovation and excellence. On July 16, 2012, with the support of close associates and Westport Capital Partners, Bram Hage founded NewCold. Invest Alberta was instrumental in guiding and supporting NewCold's decision to build a new facility in the province. Our new state-of-the-art facility is under construction in the town of Coaldale. Jonas Swarttouw, NewCold’s Executive Vice President and Chairman North America, participated in a panel discussion hosted by the agency at a VIP brunch during the Calgary Stampede. The panel discussion centered around the 'Team Alberta' approach and the unique benefits the province affords to rapidly growing organizations like NewCold. Swarttouw outlined how NewCold identified southern Alberta as an ideal location to support the growing food processing industry in the region with a new highly automated cold store. He highlighted the impact the facility will have on long-term regional economic growth. Yesterday, NewCold team members gathered in Breda, Netherlands, for the annual company summer event. This year’s gathering was a barbecue hosted at STRND and featured a special group of guests: the athletes and coaches from the Dutch Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (Bob en Slee Bond Nederland - BSBN). NewCold has proudly been the main sponsor of the federation for several years.   The summer celebration was a great opportunity for BSBN athletes and their coaches to connect with NewCold employees. NewCold Founder and CEO Bram Hage emphasized the shared values and similarities between the organizations, fostering a sense of camaraderie and mutual understanding.   The evening provided a unique opportunity for everyone to experience each other’s vocations. Athletes and NewCold team members engaged in lively conversations by sharing in their experiences. Some attendees had the chance to virtually descend in a bobsled using VR technology. A highlight of the evening! Yesterday, NewCold celebrated a major milestone with an event marking the progress of the construction of our state-of-the-art warehouse facility in Nowy Modlin, near Warsaw. Attendees gathered at the Lisia Polana Golf Club, enjoying insightful speeches from local business and government representatives, highlighting the pivotal role of logistics in Central and Eastern Europe. Guests experienced a firsthand look at our cutting-edge NewCold Nowy Modlin site. This Euro 112 million investment will create 90 new jobs and position Poland as a leading European logistics hub. NewCold’s new facility, set to be one of the most advanced in the world, is a testament to our commitment to innovation and growth in advanced food logistics. We’re proud to continue expanding our footprint in Poland, with Nowy Modlin complementing our existing facility in Kutno, which is currently doubling its capacity. The recent grand opening of our state-of-the-art warehouse in McDonough, Georgia, garnered global media attention. Our Founder and CEO Bram Hage welcomed Their Majesties King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima. The King inaugurated the facility as part of the royals’ working visit to the United States. NewCold is proud to have hosted representatives from the provincial government of Chungcheongnam-do (Korea's FDI No.1! Chungcheongnam-do), and the city government of Dangjin, Republic of Korea, in the Netherlands yesterday. The delegation visited NewCold's Dinteloord site for a look at the kind of state-of-the-art facilities we design, build, and operate around the world. Abhy Maharaj, NewCold's Chief Commercial Officer, and Porendy Ung, Managing Director Asia, thanked H.E Kim Tae-heum, Governor of Chungcheongnam-do, and Mr. Oh Seong-hwan, Mayor of Dangjin, for their visit. The NewCold delegation included Frank Huckschlag, Chief Operating Officer, and David Sanders, General Counsel. Capable of running 24/7, NewCold warehouses add greater resilience and efficiency to food supply chains in 10 countries on three continents. NewCold aims to make its warehouses increasingly grid-independent, using power generated from a variety of sources, including renewables. NewCold's warehouses are about 50% more energy efficient than traditional warehouses. The province of Chungcheongnam-do enjoys a reputation as a business-friendly environment and attracts considerable foreign direct investment. The parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding.
