With EU support, we have initiated a 3-year project to enhance the living conditions and rights of women, children and young prisoners across six states in #Sudan. This includes upgrading facilities, establishing legal aid offices and creating vocational programmes to aid in #rehabilitation and #reintegration. 🔷 Significant achievements include: 🔹 controlling a #cholera outbreak, 🔹 improving prison conditions and 🔹 developing agricultural programmes to combat food insecurity. 🌍Launch of the Global Consortium for Death Penalty Abolition 🌍 This new civil society-led initiative, funded by the European Union and led by the World Coalition Against the Death Penalty, unites 25 abolitionist organisations to strengthen our collective voice and impact worldwide. Even with the increasing support for the abolitionist movement, the #deathpenalty remains a pressing human rights issue, with 1,153 #executions recorded in 2023. ❗ Our mission is to increase the abolitionist movement's influence in decision-making processes and expand a diverse abolitionist ecosystem at global, regional and national levels. Children in #prison face various forms of violence (#VAC), but we lack clarity on the extent and responses due to insufficient data collected.  🆕 Our latest European #research on VAC in prison settings highlights critical gaps in data collection and protection for these children across the EU.
