Revised EU Blue Card Directive Update: Status of Transposition The deadline for EU Member States to implement the revised EU Blue Card Directive (2021/1883) was set for 18 November 2023. Interested to know which Member States to date have successfully transposed the Directive into their national legislation? Many have, a few have yet to do so, one has made partial progress, and two have opted out. 🌏Great progress has been made, but there is still plenty of work to be done! 🌏 Permit Foundation's world map video shows how, over the past three decades, governments around the world are increasingly recognising the value of enabling dual careers in the global workplace. Where there is at least one piece of legislation in a country that authorises direct employment access for partners or spouses of highly-skilled international employees, the Foundation views that country as good practice and the country turns green on our map. Disappointing news from #NewZealand that as of 6 June 2024, "people holding an AEWV in roles at ANZSCO levels 4 and 5 without a pathway to residency are no longer able to support work, visitor or student visa applications for their partners and dependent children." Those impacted are within the community, personal services, clerical and administrative sectors (with some exemptions). ⚠ This announcement shows that although there is a global trend towards enabling dual careers in the global workplace, we should not be complacent.
