Although it has taken us some time to join this conversation, we are eager to now share our thoughts with this community. At Talk To Loop, we provide an independent, multidirectional, accessible, long-term Feedback and Safe Reporting Mechanism for communities in crisis. While we agree with some of the analysis on a recent GTS report about the value of CFMs, we do not, unsurprisingly, share the conclusion that they should be dropped. In this reply we explain the main reasons why and advocate for focusing on making these mechanisms safer, more accessible, and truly impactful. We believe the key isn’t to reduce reliance on these mechanisms but to enhance how we listen to and act on the feedback received. We hope you find value in our reflections as we join this conversation, as we believe that these kinds of multifaceted dialogues are vital for improving how we serve communities in the long term. During the last few months, while the Talk To Loop platform has been in hibernation, our team has been reflecting on the work we have done, the learnings we have gathered, and making improvements across the board to ensure we come back stronger. We are often confronted with the question why should organisations use Talk To Loop? What is the added value of this tool for community engagement and the efficacy of their implementation? In this #LoopVoices episode, you will hear a first hand reflection on the benefits of community centered accountability. Today we look back at our experience in the regional response to the full-scale invasion of Ukraine. We talked to Viktoriia Zablotska from National Network of Local Philanthropy Development a network of charitable organisations united to promote local philanthropy and volunteerism in communities, revitalise residents, and support community initiatives. The network has experience using Talk To Loop in Ukraine and strongly supported and advocated for its use on the ground. In this video, Viktoriia shares her reflections on the added value of working with a multi-channel feedback mechanism, to facilitate communication with beneficiaries, project implementation oversight, and donor report management efficiently. Receiving real-time information from communities, and having the data shared in an open and transparent way helped to enhance their quick responsiveness and facilitated accountability with donors like the ShelterBox. She believes the Ukrainian regional response to the on-going conflict urgently needs to prioritise local input in project design, and move away from top-down practices like some INGOs that rely heavily on donor directives rather than local needs. As the Ukrainian people keep suffering the consequences of the ongoing conflict, and humanitarian and philanthropic aid keeps being at the center of the recovery and stability plans, what resources are available to bring communities to the forefront of decision making? How can implementing agencies and partners be held accountable by the people? Are there opportunities to make aid investment more efficient?
