TAQA and JERA announce the successful financial closing of Najim Cogeneration Company Limited, a new industrial steam and electricity cogeneration plant that will produce electricity and steam for the SATORP Strategic Expansion petrochemical complex located in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The new cogeneration plant will supply up to 475 megawatts (MW) of power and approximately 452 tonnes per hour (TPH) of steam using the latest highly efficient J-Class gas turbine technology. TAQA has delivered robust financial performance in H1 2024, with AED 4.4 billion in net income, supported by stable returns from its Transmission & Distribution business and further strengthened by the contribution from SWS Holding. Group revenues reached AED 27.2 billion, reflecting a 2% increase YoY.   TAQA’s focus on executing projects remained steadfast. Domestically, TAQA delivered significant progress in executing its Mirfa 2 and Shuweihat 4 Reverse Osmosis desalination projects. Internationally, TAQA achieved several milestones across key projects in Saudi Arabia. In partnership with JERA, TAQA signed a Power and Steam Purchase Agreement with SATORP, a JV owned by Saudi Aramco and TotalEnergies, to develop a steam & power cogeneration plant. A strategic consortium led by Abu Dhabi Sustainable Water Solutions Company (SWS) has signed a joint development agreement with Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Investments, Industry, and Trade, and Uzsuvtaminot to develop the largest wastewater treatment plant in Uzbekistan and the CIS region, with an estimated value exceeding 1 billion USD. Strategic consortium comprises SWS, Japanese company Marubeni Corporation, and French-based company, Suez.
