Cities around the world control speeds solely by showing numbers on traffic signs, speed limits that tell drivers maximum speeds, but not why those speeds matter. With signage incorporating place-based intelligence, drivers become more sensitive to why specific speeds matter in places like school zones or parks. Unsafe at any Speed - Een aanpak van Fatbikes De opkomst van elektrische fietsen (eBikes) en lichte elektrische voertuigen (LEV’s) in Nederland, veroorzaakt uitdagingen en onenigheid in het verkeer. Zonder veel certificering of controle kunnen e-bikes, elektrische stepjes en LEV’s worden toegelaten tot het verkeer, variërend van Fatbikes gericht op kinderen vanaf tien jaar tot 'Stints' voor het vervoer van kleuters. Dit zorgt voor een ongekend aantal ongelukken en onveilige situaties, Velen voelen zich niet veilig op fietspaden in steden, en de roep om regulering is toegenomen. Overweldigd en onvoorbereid op deze plotselinge opkomst, lijken toezichthouders hun toevlucht te nemen tot de oplossingen die hen het meest bekend zijn: handhaving, kentekenplicht, helmplicht, minimumleeftijd of het verbieden van opvoersets. Geen van deze oplossingen blijken effectief, en ze ontmoedigen het correcte gebruik van e-bikes. Bij het Townmaking Institute ontwikkelen we een evenwichtigere aanpak om E-bikes, Fatbikes en LEV’s te certificeren, zodat ze hun duurzaamheidsbelofte kunnen waarmaken. https://lnkd.in/eWA6PX-3
