  Festivities abound as we officially kicked-off the Volvo/Westport HPDI joint venture yesterday at the JV’s new home setting, Vancouver, Canada. We marked this momentous occasion with invited customers, key stakeholders and executives from both companies. Guests had the opportunity to see a Volvo FH internal combustion engine pilot truck in action rolling into UBC’s Smart Hydrogen Energy District (SHED) refueling station. The HPDI fuel system technology is already available in Volvo’s gas-powered trucks and offers a great transition alternative for fleets to reduce its climate impact today. “Today we celebrate the further validation of the HPDI technology with the establishment of the joint venture between Volvo and Westport to further accelerate the adoption of the HPDI system by the world’s global diesel-cycle engine manufacturers.” says Dan Sceli, Westport CEO and interim president of the JV. It was indeed a pleasure to attend the European Liquid Gas Congress, which took place last week at the 🇫🇷 Lyon Convention Centre. Our IAM VP Marco Seimandi spoke at “Liquid gases: Delivering today & preparing for the future mobility future” panel, giving an overview of the accomplishments impacts on #LPG of the #EU energy policy, and drawing a picture of the challenges and opportunities on the horizon. Our Project Support Director Core Business, Angelique Berden, spoke at the “Understanding and Addressing Autogas Consumers” panel, focused on fuel affordability as a key aspect taken into account by consumers when choosing LPG-fueled cars. The theme for this year’s Congress, ‘Delivering today. Preparing for tomorrow’ is at the heart of the commitment of the liquid gas industry. Providing reliable and accessible energy solutions to European citizens, with the increasing production of renewable liquid gases such as renewable LPG, also means providing sustainable alternative fuels for low-emissions transportation and helping decarbonize our future. #ELGC2024 #lpg #fuel #co2

📣 David Mumford, Senior Director HPDI Product and Strategy at HPDI Technology – a Joint Venture between Westport Fuel Systems and Volvo Group - will be speaking on June 13, during the 5th edition of “CO2 Reduction for Transportation Systems Conference – The road to decarbonization”, taking place on June 12-13 in Turin 🇮🇹, by the ‘Museo Nazionale dell'Automobile’.   🚚 David will be presenting a paper titled “Assessing Heavy Duty Vehicle CO2 Emissions for Qualification as a Zero Emissions Vehicle”, co-authored with Westport’s Graham Williams and Nadège Leclercq.   🍀 The paper will focus on the performance of engines equipped with HPDI™️ fuel system and its meeting the EU Zero Emissions Vehicle (ZEV) definition.  The HPDI system, while originally developed for natural gas, can achieve CO2 reductions in excess of 95%, consistent with the ZEV threshold, with thermal efficiency, power, and torque equivalent to, or higher than, the base diesel engine, when working with Hydrogen.   💼 Hosted by Associazione Nazionale Filiera Industria Automobilistica (ANFIA) and SAE International, the multi-track Conference will focus on CO2 reduction technologies for sustainable transportation systems, both in terms of powertrain efficiency enhancement and in terms of vehicle energy demand reduction. #hydrogen #co2 #transportation #conference #zev   https://lnkd.in/esPc6kB
