Cool Sifted article about the Kry Founder Factory featuring three Alliance VC portfolio companies, Steep, Hemi Health and Ripe - no coincidence with the quality of founders and Anders Hallin, ex-Kry, partner on our team 🙌🚀 https://lnkd.in/eEzNEAKc

Exciting news from Medal.tv 👇🚀
We just raised $13M on $333M post-money to build a new AI assistant – we're calling it Highlight. As many of you know, Medal is what millions of gamers use to capture and share their moments and memories while playing games. Medal's core technology is our recorder, which is designed to be performant and reliable while people play games. The team has been refining it since the beginning of the business in 2018. About 8 months ago, Pim de Witte and I started talking about how we could use the recorder to help people create a contextual understanding of what they're doing, and help them use this context to more easily query LLMs. We have used our learnings as a team to create a new purpose-built recorder to enable this contextual understanding. Check out our tech crunch article in the comments. We are recruiting – come work full-time in NYC if you want to sprint with us to create a contextual AI assistant for desktop. There are also awesome update in the gaming business as well, which I'll share more on soon.

Alliance VC is ready for an electrifying journey ⚡ We are thrilled to back Simon, Markus and team Versiro, by leading the €2.3M seed round and joining an all-🌟 team of allies. Arne was lucky enough to meet the founders as they were starting the company, and they have impressed us ever since. The mission of enabling flexibility and helping integrate renewables in the grid is both meaningful, valuable and exciting – 3x✅ Jørgen Kildahl // Johannes Teyssen // Henrik Hatlebrekke // Kjetil Holmefjord // Henrik Langeland // Nikolai Heum // Fredrik Thomassen // Knut H. H. Johansen // Stine Rolstad Brenna // Lise Fulland // Gisle Østereng // Lorenzo Ruscelli // Hans Geelmuyden // Sondo Capital // Startuplab // Fortress Fund // Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) // Nordic Innovation House - Silicon Valley
Versiro raises 2.3M EUR in a seed round and I couldn’t be prouder of the team and investors! This will support our international expansion and give us such a strong foundation to keep building Versiro. Our mission is the same: to enable fleixibility and help integrate renewables in the grid ⚡ Jørgen Kildahl, who lead Statkraft’s European expansion and was a C-level exec both there and at E.ON, becomes Versiro’s chairman. He also has board experience from Ørsted, Alpiq, Scatec, Telenor etc. Former CEO of E.ON for more than 10 years, Johannes Teyssen, invests in Versiro. He also has board experience from BP, Alpiq, Deutsche Bank etc. Both Jørgen and Johannes have an immense knowledge, experience, and passion for helping power systems. It’s truly an honor to work with them and have them involved in Versiro! While still researchers considering spinning out our research to a startup, Markus Löschenbrand and I attended the REACH program for scientists by Nordic Innovation House - Silicon Valley. In this program we met a VC for the first time: Arne Tonning from Alliance VC. I kept in touch with Arne ever since and he’s always been helpful whenever I’ve reached out. It’s so much fun to complete the circle now with Alliance VC leading our round and Arne joining our board. Henrik Hatlebrekke and Kjetil Holmefjord from Sondo Capital have also shown a similar helpful spirit. Always at hand to help and support, and I love their philosophy and investment style. Markus and I have always been rigorous learners. This is why I believe PhDs can become great founders. Some of the startup path we must go ourselves, but for a lot of it we can use great guides. Some of the guides I admire the most are Enode founders Henrik Langeland and Nikolai Heum and Superside founder Fredrik Thomassen. It’s amazing to have them join the team as angel investors, together with existing angels Dag-Inge Aas and Erik Åsberg. Building a company requires set of diverse skills. Again we want to learn from the best, and some of these are angels Hans Geelmuyden, Andreas Lundgren, and oddvar fodstad. At the end of the day, a great company is the sum of its people. We’ve been rigorous in getting great people for the operational team. Investors should be the same, and I can truly say they are great people I really look forward to working with! A new chapter begins, and I want to thank all who has brought us here. Jorge Lopez Gamarra, Kristian Kalinak, Taro Langner, Nicolò Barboni, Simen Busengdal, Stine Rolstad Brenna, Knut H. H. Johansen, Kristin Jørstad, Vetle Engesbak, Fortress Fund, Lorenzo Ruscelli, Startuplab, Lise Fulland, Gisle Østereng, NTNU Technology Transfer AS, and 6AM. A special thank you to the power producers who took a chance on researchers with ambitions and dreams at an early stage. And to all new and old new and old shareholders and stakeholders: Thank you for your trust and support!

Alliance VC la ut dette på nytt
"Is this a good time to fundraise?", is a question we get from time to time. This is our thoughts the state of the Nordic seed investing market in Q2 2024. In Q1 and early Q2, we have started to see our expectation for 2024 being a strong year for seed investing becoming reality. However, it is still very much a market of haves and have nots. For the haves (generally a very strong team using AI to build a new generation product for a large market and having initial traction) it is a very good a time to raise seed capital as valuations are strong. Even with the tough market for the have nots, this makes us assess that Nordic seed valuations have increased somewhat in 2024 compared to H2’2023. When we zoom out, the view of the general market becomes a bit murky. As an example, while seed valuations are up, valuations at Series A are generally flat. This indicate that companies raising large seed rounds today, will have to execute very well to raise strong Series A rounds. Data from Carta’s State of Private Markets Q1 2024 report supports this view. It highlights that the time between funding rounds (from seed to Series A, and from Series A to Series B) is getting longer than the typical 18-24 months, that ca 40 % of all financings in Q1’24 were bridge rounds and that shutdowns were up +86 % from Q1’23 to Q1’24 for startups that had raised venture capital. Those are signs of a tough fundraising environment. So, we need to keep two seemingly contradictory ideas about H1’2024 in our minds at the same time. The next big thing can attract funding at good terms and a high number of startups founded in the last few years have a tough time raising capital at all.

Today we served some food for thought in Helsinki together with out friends at Spintop Ventures and node.vc 🧠 🙌 Great to see so many women in VC gather for breakfast and share experiences and support each other! In our business collaboration and contributing to our local ecosystems is crucial, and we are constantly thinking of new and better ways to do so 🤝
Wonderful start to this sunny Wednesday in Helsinki! Together with Caritta Seppä, Daniela Sjunnesson and Margarethe Böhme we gathered a lovely group of local women in VC for a 🧠-breakfast ☕️🥐🍳 Veera Virintie from Silta Education shared some insights and hard facts about focus and gave some great tips on how to create habits that help our brain. Thank you to everyone who joined and participated so actively by sharing openly about both struggles and best practices 🙏 I really appreciate this group of female colleagues and the sense of community we have. We might be competitive when it comes to deals, but we still take pride in sharing thoughts, ideas and even struggles, and support each other both professionally and in tackling everyday challenges 🫶💪👭 #womeninvc #neuroscience #community Alliance VC, node.vc, Spintop Ventures
