Shipping is responsible for 2-3% of global carbon emissions 🚢 And we have an ambition to halve the maritime emissions associated with our Norwegian operations by 2030 📉 So we’re excited to announce the signing of a contract with Eidesvik Offshore ASA Offshore for the use of the world’s first ammonia-powered supply vessel – the Viking Energy. The LNG-powered vessel has been under contract to Equinor since delivery in 2003. When the vessel is fully converted to ammonia and put into operation in 2026, its emissions will be cut by at least 70%. In addition to continuing to use the vessel in operations, we will contribute significantly to funding the conversion to ammonia operation. We are excited to share a video featuring of one of our first members for the HPO on Green Maritime Singapore, namely AZANE Fuel Solutions! Azane Fuel Solutions is the world’s first dedicated provider of ammonia fuel handling solutions, developing tailored bunkering solutions and technology for managing ammonia as a fuel onboard ammonia powered ships. These technologies are essential to help decarbonize deep sea shipping, as ammonia is the only carbon free fuel options for the biggest vessels. The video showcases some of the exciting ambitions of Azane and the thoughts of CEO Håkon Skjerstad as he visits Singapore during the Singapore Maritime Week earlier this year. As part of the HPO on Green Maritime, we are excited to work together with Azane Fuel Solutions and our partners, to bring innovative Norwegian technologies to accelerate the journey to net-zero maritime in Singapore. 🎊Yara Clean Ammonia's renewable hydrogen plant at Herøya, Norway is officially open!🎊      We have reached a major milestone in our decarbonization journey by producing hydrogen and ammonia with renewable energy. 🎉  Made with electrolysis of water and renewable energy, the hydrogen produced at the plant will replace natural gas as feedstock and annually cut 41,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions from the site, marking an important step in our decarbonization journey! ♻️    💚 This project has come to life thanks to partnerships across the whole value chain. A big thank you to Lantmännen, who’s been committed as a customer since the very start. The hurdles we’ve encountered in the project have been solved thanks to trust and close cooperation with our EPC-contractor Linde Engineering and PEM electrolyser manufacturer ITM Power. We also want to thank Enova SF for contributing with a grant, enabling us to reach the investment decision.   Yara Clean Ammonia is also working to enable the hydrogen economy by producing low-carbon ammonia with carbon capture & storage (CCS). Essential to reach the Paris Agreement, low-carbon ammonia and CCS is a critical step to decarbonize rapidly and profitably. 💡 🌍 #NewInMartime Yara Clean Ammonia and AZANE Fuel Solutions are set to build the world's first low-emission ammonia bunkering terminal in Norway, backed by a demonstrated commitment to required safety standards.   This project connects ammonia production to ships, meeting the demand for greener shipping and encouraging a shift to make low-emission fuels common for shipping 🚢.   The terminal will include a floating barge capable of storing 1,000 cubic meters (650 tons) of ammonia, facilitating 416 fueling operations per year.
