I️ am thrilled that Blueye Robotics is testing Mixed Reality for ROV control. We had conversations before the Blue Ring Imaging acquisition about this. The more companies adopt this emerging medium the sooner it will be a common requirement in RFPs and tenders. It may not be the “first digital divemask” for a prosumer ROV but it is definitely one of the first. Also the 15ms latency they mention is not glass-to-glass for the operator, and that is really the most important metric of all for teleops. Mowi Scotland, the UK’s largest salmon producer, has acquired a Blueye Robotics X3 Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) from Subsea Commercial Services Ltd. (SCS Ltd.) This advanced ROV will be utilised for environmental monitoring around Mowi Scotland's aquaculture sites, furthering the company’s commitment to sustainable and responsible aquaculture practices. The X3 has been specified with state-of-the-art features, including the Water Linked DVL A50 300m, a Reach Robotics Alpha Two-Axis Rotating Gripper, and ruggedized hand controller. These capabilities will enable Mowi Scotland to conduct thorough and precise environmental assessments, ensuring the health and sustainability of marine ecosystems surrounding their operations.
