📢 We are thrilled to announce that Pål Erik Kjørsvik has joined the Neodrill team as a Marine Specialist! With extensive experience across various offshore roles, including client representative, offshore manager, shift supervisor, and installation supervisor, Pål Erik brings invaluable expertise to maintain our high-quality offshore operations. Since 2020, he has proven his capabilities with Neodrill, contributing to the successful installation of over 20 CANs. We are excited to now have him fully on board! Pål Erik's background in Nautical Science and his diverse career journey enrich his role at Neodrill. He served his cadet period with Havila Shipping, working on supply, anchor handling, and subsea construction vessels. He then became a mooring equipment representative during semi-sub rig moves. Additionally, he has 5 years of logistics experience as a harbour inspector in Kristiansund. Before joining us, he worked as a senior marine advisor on various offshore projects, from planning to execution. Outside of work, Pål Erik enjoys concerts and skiing, recharging his energy and focus. Based in Trondheim, he will bring a fresh perspective and drive excellence in our projects. Meet our summer intern, Lotta Bekkeheien👋   Lotta has just finished her third year as a Mechanical Engineering student at NTNU in Trondheim. This summer you can find her at the Neodrill office, at her desk among the Neodrill team, working with marketing and gaining valuable insight into the company and CAN technology.   Besides work, Lotta likes to spend the summer by the ocean, swimming and waterskiing. Her care for the ocean motivates her to want to contribute to greener, smarter and safer solutions.🌊🏄🏼♀️   Today, Lotta went with Trine Lise Bjørvik and Simen Hveding Bergseth to Randaberg to see the CANs. Neodrill at UTC 2024🌊 Last week our Business Development Officer, Vidar Strand, attended the 30th annual UTC - Underwater Technology Conference in Bergen. The conference focused on the theme "Affordable Energy," emphasizing energy security, affordability, and environmental sustainability. Vidar highlighted the importance of challenging, evolving, and improving standardized building blocks. He discussed how single-slot templates can be greatly simplified while maintaining sufficient functionality and strength. The CAN technology serves as the structural foundation for this smarter well construction. Job Shadowing at Neodrill🟡 A little while ago, Martin joined us for a day at Neodrill as part of a school project where middle school students get to see what working life can look like, potentially inspiring their future educational choices. Martin got to try 3D modeling and learned a bit about how our CAN technology works. During day 1 parallel session 1, Vidar Strand from Neodrill AS will take us through his abstract: Simplified single slot tie-backs cuts developments costs by 60%. This is what you can expect: Standardization has its clear benefits to take down cost in subsea developments. But sometimes standardization could also hinder better solutions and innovation to be leveraged for even further cost savings and project optimizations. Four corner suction pile template solutions have become industry standard causing heavy subsea structures requiring both considerable fabrication and installation efforts. Reason for this style of solution are likely many and involves stability, inclination requirements, ease and experience of installation, washout around structure during drilling and impact load requirements are some of the core elements. Refining these solutions down to single pile single slot solutions holds a significant optimization potential that can still maintain sufficient structural support and allowing same functionality as current standard building blocks. Simplification like this will reduce manufacturing time, installation time and finally time to first production. Bonus effects would be in terms of reduces EHS risk both during structure fabrication, installation and later in the first drilling phase. Not to forget the reduced emissions caused by reduced steel volume and smaller and more environmentally installation vessles. This paper will compare current standard building blocks with such optimized single slot solutions and provide a review of how sufficient installability, inclination, washout resistance and structural strength can be maintained considering requirement set forth in NORSOK, and how the cost reduction of this simplification can be of this magnitude. A CAN technology is the structural foundation for this well construction. Smaller marine vessels can be used for installation and recovery. Therefore, instead of drilling a 36’’ (42’’) hole, running the conductor and carrying out cementing operations, a vessel is used to install the CAN-integrator ahead of the rig arrival. All this allow for considerable reductions in CO2 emissions due to reduced drilling/use of rig, less steel and no cement used. On top of this, no drill cuttings are spilled to seafloor during installation, and no chemicals used in form of mud nor cement. With a seamless integration of lighter satellite SPS equipment further total reductions in CO2 emissions will be obtained totaling to a reduction of up to 60% in weight and CO2 reductions compared to standard template solutions. In summary these advantages result in increased efficiency, shorter project execution time, faster time to first oil, reduced operational risk and lower cost ultimately lowering the CO2 footprint up to 60% of any field development. Operator study: Evolution of the CAN Integrator🔎 Neodrill was newly tasked by an operator on the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS) to implement a standardized NCS 17+ Subsea Production System into our CAN-integrator.🌊 The operator sought cost-efficient solutions for developing smaller discoveries around existing asset to ensure a strong return on investment. These marginal resources would be valuable additions to current production but not viable as separate fields. Additionally, the operator aimed to synergize exploration and production, converting exploration wells to production wells, especially for gas, and occasionally for oil, based on reservoir location.⚙️ Neodrill's study found a modular solution to convert a CAN-ductor into a single-slot CAN-integrator, allowing exploration wells to become production wells simply tied to existing facilities. The main loads occur during drilling, making it feasible to add an adapting structure for the flowbase and VXT. This structure interfaces with the CAN-ductor below and the SPS provider's equipment above.🛠️ Neodrill and the Operator see significant advantages in developing smaller discoveries while simultaneously reducing costs and environmental impact with this new solution.  #CANtechnology #CANintegrator #Neodrill #Operator #OilandGas #NorthSea #SubSea
