Gender balance in leadership crucial for sustainable business success✨️ Recent findings from the annual CORE Topplederbarometer, launched by the Institute for Social Research in Oslo, highlight the need for continued efforts to ensure gender balance in top management positions in Norway. We are pleased to share that Nilüfer Sahin, our Senior Vice President for Corporate Reputation and DE&I, participated in a panel discussion on this important topic, sharing our perspectives and efforts on driving the gender equality agenda in our portfolio as an investment company. Nilüfer Sahin emphasized, “We aim to create solid conditions for gender balance in our leadership teams through an inclusive culture and integrating specific targets into leadership intensive schemes alongside initiatives such as bias training and adjusted recruitment processes.” She highlighted that gender balance in leadership is not only the right thing to do but also business-critical when half of our societies and thus markets consist of female consumers. The launch of the CORE Topplederbarometer was opened by the Norwegian Minister of Culture and Equality, Lubna Jaffery. Nilüfer was joined by esteemed panelists, including the CEOs of KPMG Norway and EY Norway, the commercial leader of Europower, and Senior Research Fellow at the Institute for Social Research, Sigtona Halrynjo. #GenderEquality #DEI #Leadership #Orkla #CORETopplederbarometer #SustainableBusiness #Diversity #Inclusion

🌿International Day for Biodiversity Protecting biodiversity is a vital element in the value chain of Orkla’s portfolio companies. We understand that healthy ecosystems are crucial to produce many raw materials, and the loss of biodiversity poses significant risks to the environment and thus also the operations of our portfolio companies. Our companies are dedicated to: 🍀 Reducing Pressure on Nature: Ensuring operations do not contribute to deforestation or the conversion of natural ecosystems. 🍀 Collaborating for Conservation: Working with partners and suppliers to foster increased biodiversity through innovative approaches. 🍀 Setting Clear Targets: Developing robust plans, policies, and actions aligned with Orkla’s sustainability ambitions. 🍀 Ensuring Certification: Achieving certifications for raw materials with high environmental risk. 🍀 Restoration and Regeneration: Actively restoring and regenerating nature in line with Science-based Target Network (SBTN) guidelines.   Orkla companies work with suppliers through certifications and other programs to promote a more sustainable agriculture, forestry, and fishing. Several Orkla companies also work actively to increase the proportion of plant-based food which require considerably less agricultural land than meat and dairy products and thus leave more space for natural areas. As a part of the biodiversity journey of our companies, we are proud to be part of the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Environmental Research, BIOPATH collaboration project, alongside leading institutions such as Lund and Göteborg Universities. This initiative helps to understand nature-related dependencies, impacts, risks, and opportunities. We aim to set meaningful targets and prepare for comprehensive biodiversity and ecosystem reporting. #BiodiversityDay #Sustainability #EnvironmentalProtection #Orkla #Biodiversity #SBTN #TNFD #ZeroDeforestation #BusinessSustainability #EcosystemRestoration #BIOPATH

Financial Times: Orkla among Europe's climate leaders 2024 Orkla has been recognized as one of Europe's Climate Leaders 2024 by the Financial Times. This recognition highlights our strong commitment to sustainability and care for the environment. At Orkla, we understand the vital role that we and our stakeholders play in building a sustainable future and this recognition reaffirms our commitment to making a positive impact. At Orkla we have reported on emissions and climate governance to CDP since 2008. We had our first science-based climate targets approved by SBTi (Science Based Targets Initiative) in 2018, reduced our Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 62 percent since 2016 and we are currently working systematically on our decarbonization plan including reduction of Scope 3 emissions. “As the owner of companies producing many of the brand’s we all use in our everyday life, reducing Scope 3 emissions will require a collaborative effort. This involves among other things consumer behavior and a rethinking of the value chains to reduce the carbon footprint of key raw materials. This is for sure a challenging and complex task, but a genuinely exciting journey that we are committed to,” says Jeanett Bergan, SVP ESG and Sustainability in Orkla ASA. We are grateful to employees across Orkla’s portfolio companies whose dedication has been instrumental in driving the sustainability initiatives forward throughout the value chains. We also extend our thanks to valued partners and stakeholders who support us on this journey. Global emissions are still on the rise and challenging work is still ahead of us. At Orkla we are committed to continuing our efforts, acknowledging that we have a way to go.  #ClimateLeaders #Sustainability #Orkla #WeAreOrkla Read more in the print edition of the Financial Times today or here: https://lnkd.in/dVeFNaNE
