💭 What if economic growth didn’t mean more waste? As millions rise into the middle class, economic growth boosts access to essentials like food, shelter, and healthcare. This progress, however, has traditionally come at the cost of increased resource consumption and waste. Imagine a future where this isn't the case. Here's how we can work towards decoupling economic growth from waste generation: ☑️ Using advanced recycling technologies to make sure materials are efficiently reused and repurposed, reducing the need for landfills and incineration. ☑️ ️ Encouraging the use of recycled materials and designing products for longevity and recyclability to help create circular lifecycles. ☑️ ️ Finding new ways to transform waste into useful resources, which can help industries reduce costs and environmental impact. Economic expansion can coexist with environmental protection. As professionals across various sectors, we should consider how we can integrate these solutions into our workflows. Whether you're in manufacturing, retail, or another field, we can all contribute to a future where growth and circularity go hand-in-hand. 👐 #Decoupling #SustainableGrowth #CircularEconomy #IndustryInsights #RecyclingTechnology

Financial institutions unite for sustainable plastics 🌍 70 international financial institutions, managing assets over USD 6.8 trillion, have issued a powerful declaration urging petrochemical companies to adopt sustainable practices 👉 https://lnkd.in/de9bde5K This call to action, organized by Planet Tracker, emphasizes the urgent need to reduce fossil fuel dependence and eliminate hazardous chemicals in plastic production. Key demands for petrochemical companies include: ➡ Transparent plastic impact reporting and a roadmap to sustainable production. ➡ Commitment to removing dangerous chemicals and public progress reports. ➡ Support for technologies using sustainable raw materials. ➡ Board-level oversight of sustainability commitments. ➡ Advocate for a strong international legally binding agreement to end plastic pollution. At TOMRA, we strongly support the UN’s plastics treaty and have put forward 10 key recommendations to enhance its effectiveness. Every summer, millions of music lovers flock to festivals, drawn by the live music and sense of community. 🎶 These events are incredible experiences, but they also come with a heavy environmental cost. 🌍 In Europe alone, festivals generate thousands of tons of waste, with single-use containers and bottles making up a significant portion. On average, a festival attendee produces around 2.8 kg of waste per day. 🗑️ We're thrilled that our solutions are helping to change this. 🌞 Our machines have been featured at a couple festivals this year, including #ArsenalFest and more recently, the Exit Festival in Serbia. At EXIT, our machines, in collaboration with the Green EXIT initiative, allowed visitors to recycle cans and PET bottles and earn rewards for their efforts. While bringing reusable items to festivals is always the best option, our recycling solutions provide a valuable alternative. They help ensure that single-use waste is properly managed and materials are reintroduced into the production cycle, promoting circularity and reducing the environmental impact of festivals. This summer, let’s all do our part to reduce festival waste and support circularity. 💪 Learn more about our reverse vending solutions right here: https://lnkd.in/dT5WpwdN #CircularEconomy #ZeroWasteFestivals #FestivalRecycling #reversevending TOMRA Collection Srbija

Every T-Shirt tells a story... but its journey shouldn't end in a landfill. 👕 Did you know that around 1.92 million tonnes of textile waste are produced every year? Yet, only about 30-35% of that waste is collected, and a mere 1% is recycled into new textile products. The rest? Over 90% end up in landfills, incinerators, or downcycled into items like rags and insulation. But it doesn't have to be this way. Through innovative solutions like automated sorting and high-quality, fiber-to-fiber recycling, we can transform this waste into something valuable again. This video takes you on the journey of a t-shirt - from its beginnings to its end-of-life stage, where years of washing and exposure to heat and detergents have left it beyond reuse. With advanced recycling techniques, even this worn-out fabric can be given a new life. ♻️ 🔗 Keen to know more?
