You name it, they get to do it. Our grads get to explore all sorts and follow their interests. Take Petter, for example – his latest rotation is in Singapore with our Emerging Opportunities Portfolio team.
Startups & #Singapore showers as a Wilhelmsen grad! It's been a few exciting first weeks in Singapore, diving into the maritime startup and VC scene through PIER71™ and Motion Ventures. The innovation around shipping tech and sustainability over here is as refreshing as the sudden homelike (#Bergen born and bred) rain showers! Between learning, exploring local culture and networking with progressive industry peers, I'm looking forward to what's ahead. Reach Remote 1 has been awarded Ship of the Year 2024 by Skipsrevyen, one of Norway’s leading maritime publications. Developed by Reach Subsea and Kongsberg Maritime, with remote operations expertise from our Massterly (a Kongsberg Wilhelmsen joint venture), Reach Remote 1 is a pioneering uncrewed surface vessel (USV). This remote-controlled vessel offers major advantages in cost, safety, and emissions, compared to larger, crewed ships. Jostein Alendal, CEO of Reach Subsea, said: “To revolutionise an industry, you need to innovate. To innovate, you need people… who can think big, think differently, and overcome the challenges.” Read more: https://lnkd.in/gU9fDsSw #maritime #autonomy #remotevessel #innovation #wilhelmsen

Who is leading the decarbonisation race in maritime? Which fuel would you place your bets on? And what advice can you give to future industry leaders? At #ShipCon24 last week, our Espen Gjerde put his panellists through their tests on decarbonisation and net-zero, Marthe Romskoug tackled risk and uncertainty and Thomas Wilhelmsen spoke about all things global trade on the shipowners panel – not least, its power to attract top talent into the industry. Far from paper-pushing, our summer interns just wrapped up a 6-week journey tackling a real challenge: designing a decarbonisation plan for Wilhelmsen Ships Service and Marine Supply System to reach net zero. After a demanding presentation at the Lysaker office, they excelled under pressure and provided an excellent foundation for our teams. This autumn, we’ll be building on their project, model, and recommendations to drive further progress. Congratulations to Anastasia Torjussen, Victoria Magnussen, Nora Berlin, Edvard Hofsli Ulstrup, and Alexander Sundquist!

“We don’t just sell, we problem solve.” When customers call with vessel issues, our sales pros need to be part technician, part customer service expert, and part account manager. David Kim, our Head of Sales & Customer Service for Wilhelmsen Ships Service in North Asia, based in Busan, South Korea, understands that effective salesmanship is about more than transactions. It’s about decoding customer needs, their perspectives, and delivering tailored solutions. Ambitious sales targets? Absolutely. But hitting those targets starts with understanding customer needs. David is also pursuing a doctorate in ship management. Talk about dedication! #shapingthemaritimeindustry #shipping #operations #wilhelmsen #wearewilhelmsen

“Digital tools aren't just something you slap onto a ship,” says Ari Marjamaa, CEO of Raa Labs. He highlights a common pitfall: starting with the use case instead of the foundation. Raa Labs, a Wilhelmsen group company, emphasises building high-quality data systems first to truly unlock #digitalisation's benefits in the #maritime industry.
