NOPD Announces Arrest of Suspect in Homicide Investigation

Today (August 16, 2024), the NOPD announced the arrest of Ted “Tezo” Breaux (black male, DOB: 11-02-2001) of Luling, La., in its investigation of a homicide that occurred on August 11, 2024, in the 10800 block of Chef Menteur Highway.

At about 1:33 p.m. on August 11, NOPD Seventh District officers were dispatched to a call of a man down at the location. Officers located the victim, an adult black male, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. EMS arrived on scene pronounced the victim deceased.

On August 13, the Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 23-year-old Desean Leggett and determined preliminary cause of death to be from gunshot-related injuries.

Through investigation, NOPD Homicide Section detectives developed and positively identified Breaux as the perpetrator in this incident. On August 12, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Breaux on one count of second-degree murder.

Breaux was located and arrested today (August 16) by members of the NOPD’s Violent Offender Warrant Squad at a residence in the Seventh District. He was booked accordingly into the Orleans Parish Justice Center.

All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.

Anyone with additional information that can assist in this investigation is urged to contact NOPD Homicide Section detectives at 504-658-5300.
