SANTANA WINS BEST ALBUM

Carlos Santana’s “Supernatural” won the best-album honors at the American Music Awards in Los Angeles yesterday — marking another step in an amazing career comeback for the 52-year-old rocker.

“A lot of people told me they didn’t want to work with me because I’m old,” Santana said backstage after receiving the award. “[Producer Clive] Davis believed in me. We both believed we had a masterpiece in our belly.”

Teen sensation Britney Spears won for favorite new pop-rock artist.

“This has been such an amazing adventure for me, this whole year,” Spears said.

DMX won for favorite hip-hop/rap artist.

“I wouldn’t have done this without Lord and savior Jesus Christ,” he said.
