Long Island cops have busted two men for allegedly running a high-tech pot factory to grow “designer” weed that sold for as much as $3 million a year.
The secret garden, which ran on timers, was powered with stolen juice – $50,000 in free electricity pirated from the Long Island Power Authority over the past year, authorities said.
The operation, at a warehouse in Holbrook, involved a hydroponic assembly line that accelerated growth of the illegal crop and enhanced its potency with powerful halogen lights, heaters and carbon-dioxide gas, said Suffolk County Police Narcotics Squad Inspector Kenneth Rau.
