BARBER MAKES CUT AT CH. 2

Giants RB, kick-returner and renaissance man Tiki Barber has been hired as a sportscaster on Ch. 2’s “Early Show” morning newscasts.

In Barber, 25, Ch. 2 News GM Tony Petitti recognizes someone special, a pro athlete who will take a career in newscasting very seriously. A graduate of the University of Virginia, Barber, one of the most erudite pros among local teams, has already dabbled in stage acting.

Barber will begin on March 1, working until the start of Giants’ training camp. He’ll also become a regular on Ch. 2’s Sunday night “Sports Wrap” show. (But will Ch. 2 include highlights of Barber fumbles?) Barber also will continue to serve WFAN as a spot host.
