VENEZUELA CALLS FOR U.N. REFORM

Venezuela yesterday threatened to boycott United Nations meetings if the world body failed to reform the Security Council, where five permanent members enjoy veto power.

“If this doesn’t change soon, it would be difficult for me to continue going to these summits,” Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez warned.

The no-nonsense Chavez was referring to last week’s U.N. summit, where he chaired a round table on U.N. reforms.
