“We are satisfied that we have a satisfactory labeling program in place,” she said yesterday.
Oh, it’s so clear now. If the label of music warns that there are calls to kill a cop or that the KKK is justified in killing an African-American, then the parents will stop it dead.
Give me a break. How would they know? What, do parents have private eyes watching their kids? Of course not.
“Music is unique,” said Weiss in peddling her argument that the music industry is pristine.
Yeah and hen’s teeth are unique, too. If music be the food of love, play on that I might surfeit of it, said Shakespeare.
No, music is more and more becoming the food of rebellion, hate and violence.
Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) said yesterday: “If anyone believes that our concerns and the concerns of American parents can be eliminated by opportunistic pledges [by the music industry] they are sorely mistaken.”
Yeah, the music industry will tell you a tale, and parents will be lulled into thinking that all is well.
No it ain’t.
Kids will listen to the crap, some of them as young as 8, and their parents won’t even know they have fired up the computer.
Hey, I celebrate the freedom of speech every time I put my finger to a key.
But that doesn’t give you freedom to corrupt.
Haven’t we had enough school tragedies driven by a vile music industry that tells our kids: Just go do it.
Isn’t it time we start a real program to close down the mongers of mud? Give them their First Amendment rights, of course, but demonstrate and put them out of business legally. Losing a buck is painful to these scum.
