GROUND ZERO PANEL GETS RECTOR SITE

The city-state panel charged with redeveloping ground zero has finally secured office space in a building just blocks from the former World Trade Center site, sources told The Post yesterday.

The Lower Manhattan Redevelopment Corp. will be moving into space at 2 Rector St., the sources said.

The panel is expected to announce its new office space at a press conference with Gov. George Pataki and Mayor Michael Bloomberg today, the sources said.

The space was leased by the Empire State Development Corp., which is the parent group of the redevelopment panel, the sources said.

An ESDC spokesman wouldn’t confirm the space find.

The redevelopment panel has been searching for ground zero-area office space for more than a month.

The 26-floor Rector Street building is also home to the Department of Transportation.
