This matchup isn’t close. Gary Cohen, Bob Murphy, Ted Robinson and Ed Coleman dominate John Sterling and Charley Steiner.
While the Mets’ crew give you everything you could want – Murphy’s a Hall of Famer, Cohen’s a future Hall of Famer, Ted Robinson’s solid and Ed Coleman delivers behind-the-scenes information – the styles of Sterling and Steiner styles are too much alike, which makes for a monotonous listen.
Michael Kay and Suzyn Waldman join Cohen and Coleman as broadcasters who act the most like reporters by doing their pre-game work with the managers and players. This shows up on the broadcast and, with Kay on TV, it is lacking from the Yankee radio team.
